Tampa area hotel recs

Looking for Tampa/Clearwater area hotel recs

It needs to have a nice pool, maybe with a kid's spray area, slides, etc.

It does not have to be on or even near the beach.

Not super $$$ please

TIA

Re: Tampa area hotel recs

I've stayed at these. Nothing bad to say about them.

DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel Tampa Bay
Embassy Suites by Hilton Tampa Airport Westshore
Tahitian Inn
DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Tampa Airport - Westshore
Hampton Inn & Suites in Largo
Fairfield Inn & Suites in Clearwater

These are in St. Pete Beach (not far) - Both are on the beach.
Alden Suites & Sirata Beach Resort

Stay FAR away from Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Clearwater Beach S-Harbourside - AWFUL

I almost forgot I posted this - thank you!

Would you mind elaborating a little? That is the place we were considering because I loved the idea of being walking distance to a fun water area.

This was my review of the hotel last July.

Arrived 7/9 in the evening. Monday morning we were out if the hotel by 9am. Didn't return until around 3pm. No maid service. We were told "her key card didn't work." You don't get it fixed and come back???? Had to then request towels and toilet paper.
Tuesday out all day again. Nope, no maid service again. Was told we requested no service. Not true at all. Never said that. Trash still pilling up. They never took it. Wednesday went to the pool around 9am, no towels. Left for a few hours. Came back to the pool around 12:30 STILL NO TOWELS! The "pool attendant" was there, asked him for towels, he looked at me like I had two heads... Isn't that your job?! I was told he will have someone get them. 30min later, no towels. I went to the lobby soaking wet and said we need pool towels. I was told there are towels in the fitness center. REALLY? I said no, please get me towels. Finally got some towels.

Another thing that should be looked into is the RUSTY NAILS sticking up in the pool area!!!!!! People walk around barefoot there!!!!! I'm sure soon enough someone will get hurt.

I emailed Corp as well and was given points.

The way the hotel is set up is really weird. One elevator and not convenient to a lot of the rooms because of the outdoor walkways. Its hard to describe but even though you take the elevator to another floor, it's not connected because of how they made the walkways. We used a ramp at the end and just walked to our room (not close either).

You are across the street from the beach, so you have to walk because there is very little parking on the beach side. You can rent from the hotel (Chat Icon) a cart/chairs but who is really going to schlep all of your stuff from the hotel to the beach? We drove and found a parking lot closer to the beach but you have to go early to get a spot (and pay all day).

Let me know if you need any other info. I love the area, been many times.

I would have taken all the trash and used towels, etc from my room not being serviced and dumped them in the lobby.
That is awful!
