Re: High weight capacity dining chair?
When you state, "formal fabric chairs" are you referring to a slipcovered chair? These chairs have a wood base. PB sells slipcovered DR chairs with 300lb weight capacity.

High weight capacity dining chair?
I never even thought about the weight capacity of my chairs. I'm sure my brother in law and some other relatives are in the 250 range and we've never had any issues.

Re: High weight capacity dining chair?
Wow I think that's great! I so often end up bringing my own chair, sitting on a couch with a plate on my lap, or standing because I'm afraid of breaking someone else's chairs.
We have wood chairs, so I don't have a personal recommendation; but perhaps check out Birch Lane. I believe this website has some furniture with higher weight capacities.

High weight capacity dining chair?
Amazon has lots of options.
While I agree this is very nice, unless they are going to be used for a very long time day after day (like the person is going to be living there) this probably isn't necessary. Focus more on the width between the arms (or chairs without arms.)
As someone who was Class 5 morbidly obese I was never worried that dining chairs wouldn't hold me as they are usually wood and sturdy. It's folding chairs and those normal white backyard plastic chairs that I would either skip sitting on totally or barely put my weight on. An investment in that would go a long way. I cant tell you how many BBQs I would stand the whole time until I thought I was going to pass out because I knew if I sat down I'd bend one of the plastic legs on those chairs. And how many company meetings I skipped due to folding chairs.
