Need advice from those who has successful pregnancies

Hi everyone,

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for a year. We are both 31 years old. We have tried 3 rounds of IUI (intrauterine insemination) (May, June, July 2018 with clomid. We had a chemical pregnancy following our May IUI, and the next 2 were unsuccessful despite matured follicles and confirmed ovulation. My AMH is 2.71.

We had an HSG this July (2018 that came back normal. DH (dear husband) sperm analysis came back great and all my Bloodwork and sonos have been normal. I have regular periods. I’m wondering if anyone has/had a similar profile and got answers? Should I switch doctors at this point? I feel like I should be getting pregnant at this point. Thanks in advance!

Sorry you're dealing with all this. Dh and I tried for 14 months before conceiving our first. No losses or chemicals, just absolutely nothing for 14 months. We saw a specialist and got pregnant on our own right after the consult. I can't comment on test results or iui's but if you're not happy with for doctor you could try switching. For us, it just took a long time and a lot of opks. Hope your luck changes soon.

pretty similar situation here- I had 1 chemical, 1 ectopic, and another early loss that my OB said resulted from low progesterone. got an HSG after the ectopic and they think there was maybe a small blockage but nothing really bad at all. could have caused the ectopic, though. I went through another 2 or 3 cycles with no luck, and then made an appt with an RE. I happened to just get pregnant on my own right after my first appt, so they kept me in their office to monitor me early and make sure my progesterone remained high. I had to take crinone to keep it high until about 8 weeks or so. I now have a healthy 2 year old

I truly think there's no rhyme or reason to it. I am a planner, and it killed me to not be in control of my situation. I will say that as soon as I was with the RE and had my first appt, i totally relaxed and felt like someone was going to keep an eye on me more closely than my OB was. Looking back, every single time I got pregnant, I was very relaxed and not stressed out. All the months that I was forcing it to happen and not "enjoying" the process, I wouldn't get pregnant. That's just my take on it though. It's hard to say to just relax and let it happen, but try your best to. Get a massage, maybe try some acupuncture, or yoga (i've also heard good things about reiki). Maybe it will help to reduce the stress a bit

Good luck!!

Crashing, 3 years of TTC I had the same scenario as you with normal everything and perfect sperm count but with 6 failed IUI the 2nd one being a chemical. I ended up getting pregnant in the middle an IVF cycle naturally (go figure) and what i think really helped was during that i was eating super healthy ( I am considered obese) and was working out and avoided sugars and carbs. I was also on Metformin for my H1C which I hear helps too. Hope you find some answers I understand how frustrating it is.

Sorry just saw this....it was our first IVF cycle and the day before my egg retrieval I was bleeding like a heavy period so when I went in the next day I told my Dr and she was surprised that happened since that is a rare occurrence. She did the retrieval and she saw no trace of blood in my uterus so we were just so confused. She did not feel confident implanting a fresh embryo because if there was blood or if I bleed again she was afraid that it wont implant so she froze them and wanted me to do a water sono after my period came basically this delayed everything and I was beyond upset because we were so close! So I got my period then did the water sono (which came back normal) then Chat Icon around that week since we had nothing to lose and BOOM that month I got pregnant. We still can't believe it lol. She is our true miracle.

Re: Need advice from those who has successful pregnancies

My DH and I were trying for a year before going to an RE. We were 32 when we started trying for our 2nd in 2016. We already had a natural successful pregnancy in 2014 when our daughter was born. She took 4 months to conceive with no issues.

I always had regular periods and ovulated regularly. All of our tests came back normal too so we were diagnosed with unexplained secondary infertility. We did 3 IUIs which were all unsuccessful--I had 2-3 follicles for all of them (used Clomid).

I switched Drs and went straight to IVF. The dr did say my eggs were abnormally shaped after retrieval but the ones that fertilized were great looking embryos. We transferred one fresh day 5 blastocyst and had 4 leftover to freeze. I chose to do MaterniT21 and all looks good...and we found out we're having a Chat Icon. If I were to start all over again, I would skip IUIs and go straight to IVF, just my personal opinion. I also have great IVF coverage which I know many people do not have so it makes it easier for me to say that.

I used Gold Coast IVF. I didn't LOVE Dr. Palter but I feel like he knows his shit and I really did like the nurses.

Good luck to you!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
