Has anyone been to Nashville...questions
So my husband and I were thinking a 4 day trip to nashville. I know the prices of the hotels and the plane(for now) but to be tourist and do fun stuff, how much would it cost for like food, drink, hall of fame, all the fun downtown things. We are thinking of staying at the Omni, was also looking at gaylord convention center, but the omni looks beautiful. We RARELY go on vacation and this would be like a year away so we can have all the money to spend there without worrying. maybe a spa visit, nice dinners, we are both drinkers.
any recommendations as well, please let me know! Thanks!

Re: Has anyone been to Nashville...questions
I was just looking at the Gaylord. They are going to be opening their indoor waterpark there soon. So, if you are traveling without your kids, I would probably stay elsewhere to be honest!

I would stay in the downtown area - the Gaylord is nice but it’s by the Grand Ole Opry - a cab/Uber ride from downtown. And there isn’t much to walk to around there.

I agree. There is so much more to do downtown.
There is a Visitor's center by the Batman building. You can get a lot of info there as well as discounts. We got the Total Access pass- which gives you 4 attractions. Downtown we toured the Ryman, Johnny Cash Museum, , Musicians Hall of Fame & Museum and Country Music Hall of fame.
We did a Segway tour which I loved. That is located near the Visitor Center. We toured the Grand Old Opry and walked around the Gaylord.
I loved it. Have fun! Visitmusiccity. com

Was just there last week. The Gaylord is beautiful, but it’s almost 20 minutes away by car. I’d stay near downtown. Most attractions with entrance fees were in the $20-$25 range. Food - you can find good food in almost any price point. Drinks ranged from cheap ($8-$9 per drink to more expensive ($14-15 per drink). So, you can do Nashville “cheap” or “expensive “ - really depends on you

Re: Has anyone been to Nashville...questions
I stayed at the convention center & hated it. I was working at an event there and felt so trapped.
You have to take a shuttle bus downtown. The only place to walk is a small shopping mall. There are retuarants on the Convention center, but they can't accomadate the # of guests the hotel has, so it is hard to get a reservation. There is a food court, but it closes at night.
It had a very manufactured vacation feeling, like Disney or a cruise - lke the the hotel was your destination - "street" perforamers, and indoor river with gondola rides" . It made me feel trapped & the first night I just walked around the parking lot just to get some air.
I was there for work by myself, so I was only able to get downtown one night.
The only I liked about it was that they had amazing Christmas decorations ( that were up before Thanksgiing.) Including a giant outdoor nativity.

This. I love Nashville been a few times including this August. Gaylord Opry is beautiful, but there is nothing there but the OPRy and you are far from everything! Totally stay downtown at the Omni. The list a PP posted for prices is great. Otherwise it's really the same as NY...drinks and food a few dollars cheaper, but nothing to write home about! Have fun!

Re: Has anyone been to Nashville...questions
I've stayed at the Marriott Courtyard Downtown and the Hutton Hotel. LOVED them both, but you can't beat the Marriott Courtyard location...everything downtown is walkable from there. The Hutton was also a decent location...just 5 minutes down the road from Broadway and they had a shuttle. You can probably even do a quick Uber ride from there if you don't want to depend on the shuttle. The Gaylord is beautiful but way off the beaten path...you would definitely want to stay in the downtown area

Re: Has anyone been to Nashville...questions
We stayed downtown at the holston house, a boutiquey hyatt.....loved it they also had a rooftop pool which we did utilize for a few hours
1. country music hall of fame 2. grand ole oprey 3. hop on hop off trolley ( will take you all over nashville and you can get on and off and basically see EVERYTHING stop for food etc.) 4. Hattie B's for "hot chicken" 5. All the bars on broadway are fun especially tootsies!
honestly i loved the food everywhere, you can eat high or low end you won't be disappointed! Have fun, def one of my favorite cities thus far!

Re: Has anyone been to Nashville...questions
Just got back and am detoxing. Great time! So fun!
We had an amazing dinner at Husk. We had terrific brunch at Biscuit Love. We did GOO which was fun to go to but it is a ways from downtown. We did a peddle tavern tour of mid town which was great. All of the bars are super fun with some really great talent singing.
We had such a blast.
Oh, but you should know before going, that after say 8 p.m. the average age in the bars is probably 21 and every female is 5'10, gorgeous, blond with amazing hair, stick skinny and impeccably dressed. Does wonders for the ego! LOL

Re: Has anyone been to Nashville...questions
Just came back on Sunday. Loved it. We just walked around an popped in the bars that were playing something we liked. We stayed at Hotel Bobby, great location and hotel only thing negative is the bathroom, its very modern so it is like frosted glass and doesn't have a real door just a sliding barn door type thing. So if you have privacy issues in the bathroom area I'd stay somewhere else. LOL.
We ate at the Stillery, amazing bar food type of things. Pucketts for breakfast was amazing. We also went to Skull's Rainbow room for dinner and burlesque show. It was good but nothing to rave about.
Other than listening to music we only did the Johnny Cash museum. We did take a ride out to the Grand Ole Opry only to find they were down with tours for the day which was a bit disappointing.
Also, try a goo-goo cluster. They were amazing. :)

Re: Has anyone been to Nashville...questions
We just came back and had an amazing time. It was a little colder than usual for this time of year but still had so much fun.
We stayed at the Westin and were able to walk everywhere. We ate in the Gulch area for breakfast and would walk downtown at night.
My sister is very into country music. Everywhere we ate was delicious: Breakfast: Biscuit Love, Milk & Honey, City Fire We has dinner at Pucketts and it was great.
We attended a show at Ryman Theater which was so great. We saw Kelsea Ballerini and so many other great stars starting out. Their voices were amazing. We also did the Sprocket Bike tour which was so much fun.
Bars: Acme, Tootsies, Coyote Ugly and Honky Tonk. My sisters favorite was Honky Tonk central.
