Hand washing and proper rest.
We do not use supplements. None have been proven to work and there is no guarantee you are getting what the bottle says you are because supplements are not regulated in any way.

Re: Supplement to increase immunity in winter for kids
I hate to say it but I feel like how often you get sick and how your immune system is, is really just individual, and luck of the draw, and different for everyone. My DD takes zero supplements, eats like shit and is NEVER sick. I'm not even sure she's the best hand washer to be honest- I try to keep after her about it, but I know she slacks a lot when i'm not around.
I can't even tell you the last time she was sick- I don't think she was sick once all of last winter to be honest.
Yet some of her friends are sick CONSTANTLY. It's insane. I hear all the time about how this one has been sick since October, this house has so many bugs going through it and knock on wood- nothing.
And we don't do anything special to be honest. (other than DH of course, who eats the perfect human diet. LOL) Really just luck of the draw

Re: Supplement to increase immunity in winter for kids
Elderberry every morning with breakfast and if I feel like they are coming down with something I'll do it twice in a day. Wash hands as soon as they get home from school. I actually spray their backpacks and coats when they get home too. A bit OCD, but my older DS can be a slob and lets his stuff fall and will drag his coat or leave it on the floor. THey shower every night on school nights as well.

Re: Supplement to increase immunity in winter for kids
I found that avoiding places like arcades, kiddie museums and the like on weekends helped a LOT.
We do OJ every day. I think Vitamin C can’t hurt and can only help.
Finally, age. My kids got sick a lot when they started school and now they have been exposed to everything!
I don’t really like supplements. My view is if they work, they will have side effects!

Zinc works great for us typically. Take it at the very first sign of a cold and it seems to knock it out within a day. Vitamin D is another good one. Most people are sick in the winter when their vitamin D drops (not so much in the Summer when they get tons of D from the Summer Sun and being outside).

You can try Elderberry to see if that works.

i give both my boys chewable vitamin C tablets along with their regular vitamins every morning. i really feel like it helps boost their immunity.... or, at least makes any cold/sickeness less "severe" if they do get it.

I agree. Same here. DS got a stomach bug for which he was absent one day in 5th grade and 1 day in 6th grade. That has been it. Last year that was a horrible flu season, he didn't get sick one day. He even went to a camp during February break and a kid on his room got sick with the flu... DS didn't. He doesn't eat that well. I'm always forcing fruits and veggies on him. And forget about washing hands. School is very close and 2 weeks ago he was still wearing shorts and a hoodie with this weather. The only thing, though, he gets the flu shot. We don't, but I don't get sick, so I don't know if that helps or not.

Dd gets the flu shot too. Like you, i never get the flu shot myself. I am rarely sick either . And our diets suck to be honest. We no longer have fruit in the house because dh can't eat it and he was the fruit buyer. Veges are a rarity...I hate them, she's indifferent. I take my Ip6 daily, she takes just a multi vit. To me it's all just luck of the draw

Supplement to increase immunity in winter for kids
My daughter has (has?) asthma. I swear by daily elderberry sept to June. 1x a day and 3x if starting to get sick. I add liquid zinc to it too. We also use bee propolis throat spray daily. With asthma I found limiting dairy which is inflammatory really helps. If he’s coming off being sick really restrict it. And once he is better limit him to one dairy product a day. My daughter has coconut milk in cereal, coconut milk ice cream and yogurt. Even her pudding isn’t real dairy. We save the dairy for cheese which she loves. Also push fruits and vegetables. I often give “baby tapas” a hard boiled egg, some berries, some nuts, dried mango, sometimes I’ll add a few chocolate chips, a cheese stick...I think whole uncooked foods can be really important.

I do this too. I saw her coat on her bed yesterday and freaked!
