My review of Hershey Lodge
Stayed for one night. That was enough.
Pros: -Lots of activities during the day -Waterworks was great -Arcade was fun -Availability of restaurants -Gift shop
Cons: Customer service was abysmal.
-We were told check in was at 4. When we hadnt received a room assignment (we had 2 rooms) by 5:30 I called (with my now extremely cranky and overtired 3 month old) and was told that they had until 6 pm to give us an assignment! At 6 we still didn’t have an assignment. The first one finally came through (via text) at 6:15. When we arrived, the pack and play we requested was not there. The second room wasnt ready until 7:15pm. HOW is that ok when check out is at 11 am?!? Took another 30 minutes for the pack and play to arrive. No apologies about the wait and none about the lack of pack and play.
-room cleanliness. You’d think that since it took 7+ hours for our room to be ready that it would be squeaky clean? Nope. Hairs alllllll over both tubs. Leftover food in the fridge. Nasty.
-No one answers the phone. Called front desk from room 7 times before someone answered. Yep. 7. Called operator. Same thing.
-room service. Called and ordered food. Took more than an hour to come. When it arrived, it didn’t have silverware. When we called them and asked them to bring some, they told us it would be 30 minutes. But it never came.
-shuttle bus. Took 30 minutes of waiting outside for it to come. Took about 20 to go back to the hotel. Maybe that’s normal? But I was told that they are “continuously running.” I assumed it was more frequent than that.
Overall, I’m out on this place. This was the ONLY place I used to stay as a kid. I had a lot of nostalgia associated with this hotel. But nostalgia only goes so far. The level of service we received at this hotel was on par with a craptastic dive motel. At the off season price of $179/room/night I will take the loss. But I cannot IMAGINE paying the summer rate ($350+). Ive NEVERRRRRR been to a hotel where I’ve gotten into my room after 4 pm - let alone 7:15.
Beware.
I highly recommend the Homewood Suites in Harrisburg. Clean, great service, free breakfast, and indoor pool. I wanted to try the Lodge and see if we were missing out. We decided that we weren’t missing out. We’ll be heading back to the Homewood Suites next trip.

To have your room ready at 7pm is not acceptable. I would go through the fine print, then file a complaint to get a partial refund, and if they don't oblige, I would file a complaint with your CC company!

Re: My review of Hershey Lodge
I have heard so many bad things about this place. For what they charge they should be ashamed. Dirty rooms? That is my breaking point.
I would 100% fight that charge for that night. 7 pm is 100% unacceptable.
