Endometrial Ablation
I am considering having this surgical procedure due to extremely heavy menstrual. I am in my mid forties and experiencing discomfort, anxiety and sometimes depression. Can you please share your feedback as this will be helpful in my decision making? Thank you.

Re: Endometrial Ablation
I had this done the end of March and I can honestly say it was the absolute BEST thing I ever did for myself. I went from not being able to leave the house for days (no exaggeration) to climbing mountains.
If you have any specific questions I'd be happy to answer them. The procedure has been truly life changing for me.

Re: Endometrial Ablation
Thank you for sharing your feedback. That's great to hear. Good for you!!! I pray for the same life changing experience. Actually, I have several questions....
1. How long did it take after the procedure for your menstrual to completely stop?
2. Should I be aware of any symptoms after the procedure?
3. Do you still get the monthly menstrual symptoms - cramping, headaches, bloating, mood swings....etc around your cycle time (would've been) even though you do not get an actual period?
4. Did you see any changes in your sex life? It is fine if you would prefer not to answer. Apologies, I am a very detail person.
If I miss anything you think I should know - please feel free to share. Thank you very much!

Re: Endometrial Ablation

Spotting ended quickly - had a good month of discharge - yuck. I heard it all depends on how much they suction after the procedure. So if you think of it - ask them to suction a lot.
I also had a D&C and several polyps that were removed during the procedure too.
2. Should I be aware of any symptoms after the procedure?
I was fine - just mild cramping the day of for a couple of hours. No problems afterwards.
3. Do you still get the monthly menstrual symptoms - cramping, headaches, bloating, mood swings....etc around your cycle time (would've been) even though you do not get an actual period?
The only symptom I've had was one month of crazy PMS anxiety. Other than that, not much to speak of.
My cycle is still like clockwork too. I still track it and the only way I know I have it is a tiny bit of blood when I wipe, which you know for us is like amazing. LOL
4. Did you see any changes in your sex life? It is fine if you would prefer not to answer. Apologies, I am a very detail person.
Honestly - it's off the charts, but I'm unsure if that is due to my personal change in life (divorce, etc)
One of the weirdest things that happened to me was the INCREASE in energy...and the DECREASE in appetite. I ended up losing 25 lbs in a month. I know it's not common, but it was strange... I guess a balance of hormones? Unsure. Plus I craved salmon... to the point where I had it every day - sometimes twice a day.

Endometrial Ablation
I wanted to have it done years ago but when I went in for a consultation, the dr said I wasn't a candidate. I don't remember why but it had something to do with the placement of my uterus and it wouldn't have to results I was hoping for.

Re: Endometrial Ablation
Oh, wow! This was extremely helpful. I appreciate your immediate response.
P.s. I am excited that your sex life is off the charts. Good for you! You deserve it! ?? I should have been more specific with that question. I really wanted to know if you experience any pain or dryness during sex that contributed to the procedure.
Thank you again.....

Re: Endometrial Ablation
I had it done in feb. I haven't gotten a period since then. Last month i thought maybe i was but it was a tiny bit of spotting and that was it. That has been the first sign of blood since feb.
ETA: i don't really get any pms symptoms to begin with so i can't really talk about the after.
I had a polyp removed so the doctor mentioned the ablation to me since i was done having kids.
No negative sex effects whatsoever!
