Buff out scratches on a car

Ugh! So I scratched the front corner of my car and it goes back very soon. Figures!! I haven't told DH yet Chat Icon
Going into my driveway I looked over to see a package at the front door and turned the wheel into the corner of the garage. Ugh! I am so pissed. I have NEVER done anything like that in the 11 years we've been living here.
Now our lease goes back and I am so aggrevated.
I tried wiping it and nothing is coming off. It's not huge but a scuff mark. Chat Icon

Try a microfiber cloth with a lot of pressure. If that doesn't work, try a little car wax. Good luck

Re: Buff out scratches on a car

If it didn't penetrate the clear coat you may be able to buff it out with wax
Clean the area well an then get some car wax-apply it and then then buff it off with a lot of elbow grease.
That will work only if it's a scuff- not a true scratch in the paint.

How big is it- they usually wont' charge you for any scratches smaller than a credit card.

Re: Buff out scratches on a car

It's a few white scratches. It looks more like it took off the paint rather than really scratched it so much.
Ugh! I am just so nauseous about this. I hate the confession. Then we have to bring it back soon.

As long as the scratches are not longer than a credit card, they shouldn't charge you for them
That is what I was told when I leased my car

It's scuffed to where the paint came off and it's a few spots. May be bigger than a CC Chat Icon

Try a Magic Eraser. It has worked for me on some scratches.

OMG! I owe you a beer. It all went away! Now if only it could fix the small dent on the garage. LOL
I used it all over the car and fixed a few other spots too.
This is awesome! Thanks

I was going to suggest the same thing. My DH hit the garage last week and the magic eraser removed all the scuff marks.

It works because it's a mild abrasive. Don't use it on a regular basis. It "removes" the light scuffs and scratches because it removes the surrounding clear coat to the level of the scratch. It looks smooth, but it's actually taking away the clear paint.

And whatever you do- do not use it on a wall that is painted with a flat finish paint. I did that once and it took the paint right off the wall.

Or a stove top, ruined top of my stove...ugh.It takes off the shine like GoldenRod said...I would be careful using it on my car b/c of that.

Yikes. I actually hate those things. They fall apart in pieces too.
I find them awful
