You're not missing anything. It's fine to go for a drive. I don't really get some people.
People are effing insane. And busy bodies, and want to control everyone. Some lady was complaining in our community group about people being out in their cars. It's insane to me.
Right. Now I asked what’s so risky? Was told what if you get into an accident on the road, then you’ll need to go to the ER where all the Covid patients are? Well an emergency can happen in my house too... one of us could fall down the stairs or choke on food at home or another emergency could happen anywhere. So by that logic just existing anywhere right now is risky.

The only reason I can think of wearing a mask in the car is taking it on and off can cause you to touch your face more, so they probably leave it on if they are in between stores.
It’s better to just put it on before you leave, do your errands and leave it on, and then remove it when you get home.
As for close quarters in a car... hmm I don’t know. You can’t follow social distancing in a car.
You don't have to social distance yourself from your family that you live with.
Sorry, but I think if a member of a family is out and about every day and the other members of the family aren’t, then that person out and about should social distance, even at home.

How is that even possible unless you quarantine yourself in another part of the house. So a mom who works all day needs to be away from her kids? Social distance from your kids not possible lol

Well then, I guess it’s not possible in that case, lol.

Corona and the Car
I think that some people are cautious of driving for the sake of just taking a drive because they don't want to possibly get in an accident and need medical attention. I know that I've been tempted to go for a drive just to get out of the house but I haven't for this reason. And I know that it's "crazy" or overly cautious. But I can only control myself through this, and if doing small things like not increasing my chances of needing some sort of medical attention, then I'm going to do what I can.

She’s driving with people she lives with. Should my husband not sleep in our bed so we can social distance?
OP I think people are scared and acting irrationally. Or, they just put the mask at home with intention of going to a store. I did that yesterday. Not because I felt like I needed it in the car. I don’t know why honestly. But actually I did remove it on the drive home. So you would have seen me in a mask driving to store.
My husband and I have been in separate rooms for 2 weeks now He still works I have a compromised immune system While it sucks it feels the smartest for us

When you are immunocompromised it's another story. You should absolutely take more precautions.
