Re: Missing the point?
yes I think people are missing the point and i don't really think they get it.
I really need to learn to say off and not comment on things on Facebook because it drives me crazy with the responses I see.
one example is letting kids go back to school or camp if it was to open this year.
You have people saying they wouldn't send their kids to either not even maybe in September.Which fine is their choice but do I really think all these people plan on social distancing that long if the go ahead for everything to open is done? No i think they will be going out so why its ok to go out and do other thing and not go to school/camp baffles me I feel like I am missing some point.
once the go ahead is given to go out and live life I plan on doing that.
Anyone who doesn't want to great but I really hope they don't plan on doing anything at all because it makes no sense to do somethings and not other things

I'm not staying home just to flatten the curve. I'm also staying home to give researchers time to find medicines that will actually help once someone is bad enough that they have to go to the hospital. Right now - there's a lot of testing that has to be done to know what will work. And were just now finding out about other issues related to COVID - it's not just respiratory, it's also heart, blood clots, etc. The longer we let them do their research, the easier it'll be when the rest of us get it.
But Funkybutt with all due respect, by your own admission, you stated you are still seeing your boyfriend and his family. I think it’s fine. I’m sure they are re isolating as well. I’m just saying I am tired of people with near ideal “isolation” situations telling the rest of us how much better you are then me. I haven’t seen my boyfriend in two months because we aren’t isolating together (which is an oxymoron). My point is ppl are already making their own accommodations and deciding what they can bear and what they feel is acceptable. But judging others who do the same.
Everyone who gets to go to bed with their partner at night - I am no longer interested in their thoughts about “isolation”
Seriously?! I get to go to bed with my husband who is an essential worker and I worry every single day that he may catch this and bring it home. He has severe asthma. This is after working from 7am until midnight or later to finish my work since I spend a good part of my day assisting my kindergartener with her 4+ hours of school. I haven’t been out of my house except for walks and Covid testing since 3/16. Everyone is struggling. If you want to see your boyfriend then make accommodations and make peace with the risk which in the worst case scenario is death.
I phrased it poorly. I meant I don’t want to be lectured about isolation by people who aren’t in actual isolation. Isolation is painful. Prayers for your husbands continued safety.
Thank you. I think we are all struggling. The feeling of isolation is overwhelming even with another adult in the house for several hours a day. Due to our schedules we have very limited time to spend together.

What funkybutt and Katareen said. Plus, it is looking like getting it once doesn't make you long term immune. Like the way we need flu shots every year and boosters. So it's not like the people who get it get it over with. The clock just starts running until they are susceptible again. No benefit.. just long term damage.
Not everyone will get it. Not everyone will get it the same number of times. Best to avoid for as long as possible. Vaccines, treatments, and insights may not be around the corner...but if you listen to the scientists ...they're coming. And they will make this bearable and less deadly for everyone.
If people want to rush back into the fire ...they will. But if you listen to the real experts, buying time before you get it is always better. I feel like these days, everyone thinks they're an epidemiologist. I am certainly not, but I listen to real experts, refuse to be fatigued from acting in my own and society's best interest after a month, and firmly believe that as with smallpox, polio, sars, etc, that came before, this will get better in some way.
Finally, folks are right. Those who stay in will not be infected by people who go to gyms and nail places. But healthcare workers will. .

I’m nervous about sending my kid to school if it opened before September, and nervous about summer activities as well, but if I’m not sending my kid to school, I’m also not going anywhere myself.
Unfortunately, once dh has to go back to work I realize there’s no point in keeping them home from school-he works in the city and will be the biggest risk of all.
