Shut down extended
The NYS shutdown of all non-essential businesses has been extended until JULY 8! That's a really long time from now. I'm really hoping they did that just so they don't have to keep doing 2 week extensions and that they will be re-visiting things and little by little at least some things will be opened up before then
NYS Register
It's on pp 27-28 of the document (pp 33-34 of the link), under Dept of Health

Shut down extended
July 8th?? Yesterday Cuomo said parts of upstate NY will lift some restrictions May 15th. DiBlasio is saying a task force is starting work this Friday to begin the plans to reopen the city. Now all of a sudden it is July 8th? Where did you hear that?

Shut down extended
I don't think this type of info would come out publicly prior to Cuomo's daily press conference.
But, if it's true, I will cry.

I looked at the document and saw this:
"This notice is intended to serve only as an emergency adoption, to be valid for 90 days or less. This rule expires July 8, 2020."
The way I read it, that means that the rules listed in the document can be put into effect for a maximum of 90 days, ending on 7/8/2020. It doesn't mean that the lockdown goes until 7/8/2020.

Right, but the things listed under the rule includes the shutdown of all non-essential businesses. And it's the same (or similar) language that has been used each time the shut down is extended. This time, it's just for longer. I really hope they just did one long time frame so that they don't have to keep revising it and not the actual plan they expect to be in place

But I don't think that means it is definitely going until July 8th, I think it means it CAN if necessary. It expires on the 8th, but it doesn't have to go until then. At least that's the way I am reading it.

Deblasio is on now and Coumo later so I would rather listen to them than try and go through this thing as I can’t even find that line.

The language has always said they CAN.And yes, I really, really hope that they start to open things up before then. But as of now, they have extended the government's authorityt to shut things down until July 8th

From what I can understand of that document- and that was a LOT of legalese so I could be wrong here- the order is good for 90 days and expires on July 8th. Meaning he can keep extending it up to July 8th if needed and then I guess another order would be needed. How did you even find that in there? Man that was buried in a lot of words! lol

Re: Shut down extended
I am not taking it that its def. extended till then.
Just that the rules apply till then, so he doesnt have to issue an order every 2 weeks.
What I am about to say is not meant directly for the OP but stuff like this on social media is what causes hysteria.
People post stuff without actually researching to see if its true. Drives me crazy, not just covid related stuff either anything from why their are helicopters out or why there were cops somewhere one person states something and then it spreads like its 100% the truth

Shut down extended
I'm reading it as the rule/plan needs to be revisited on 7/8. The rule/plan being their emergency procedure outline. Not that the state is shut down until then.

I tend to agree. I don't know for sure if any of this IS violating any constitutional rights as I am not a lawyer nor versed in constitutional law... but our country was built on these rights and the Constitution and I always thought it meant something. If it doesn't and can be violated as officials see fit- well then, it was all a lie and sham all along. And that's kind of disturbing. I'll leave the rest to the experts, but if constitutional rights ARE being violated, they should have a right to defend them. There is not nothing ridiculous about that.
