Making Friends as an Adult
It's easier if you find people with a shared interest (hobbies like hiking, knitting, etc). I find that trying to make friends with moms of my son'd friends doesn't work. We never seem to click b/c we're usually so different.
It's harder to do during quarantine b/c a lot of people aren't being social with strangers, but generally you can find FB groups and meetup.com groups that would be interesting to you.

Making Friends as an Adult
Now that my kids are older, I’ve made friends with the moms that they do sports and activities with. Before 1st grade I didn’t have many “mom” friends but after my kids got serious in their activities and I started seeing the same people every weekend we gradually got friendlier and now we are pretty good friends.

Making Friends as an Adult
All the friends I've made as an adult were through work, both past and present jobs.
I do have 2 moms who I'm sort of friends with because our DDs are friends. One moved oos and we are (hopefully) moving soon ourselves, but they're cool and normal and I feel like those are two qualities that are lacking in the momosphere.

I made lots because one or the other of us had the courage to cold call for a playdate for the kids. Lots of them stuck because the adults hit it off.
Work has also been a great place to make friends.
It can be hard to put yourself out there, but it is often worth it.

This. Actually some of my closest friends are women I met on meetup 10 years ago.

Re: Making Friends as an Adult
I know this will sound strange but 7 years ago I met someone from Instagram. Back when Instagram was still new. I talked with her and she was from Miami and less then a month later she came up to nyc and we met for dinner. The next month I booked a flight to go down and spend 5 days. Met her husband as well. I continued to go down every other month and then finally my husband got to meet them. From that time forward we have been on over 25 trips together. A bunch of our trips have been long compared to traditional vacations. Last year we were away for a month. And we have done 3 trips that were 3 weeks long We have traveled the world together, we share houses we rent, we have also done a few boat trips together once on their boat and a few on our boat.
We have become best friends. A few years after meeting we got a condo in Miami and during quarantine we see them often. It is hard for others to understand and some people don’t get it at all.
