that is totally the hospital's fault. 911 operators can't be expected to send an ambulance to someone already in a hospital, its a total waste of resources.
That hospital needs to be investigated and brought up on charges of negligence.
It is a horrible story.

This is the title to that story on the homepage of MSN, "Fury After Woman Dies in E.R. Lobby". I read it and thought to myself, "aww, that's really mean!" Idiot me read it like "Furry Woman Dies in E.R. Lobby"

The one in Los Angeles ,Ca? It was named King Drew Medical Center until they shut it down ..lost their accreditation.Everyone called it King Kill Hospital. Now they re opened and the same crap is going on and they are going to be closed down again if they don't come up to standards! People actually scream in the ambulance: Don't take me to King Kill!!!

I work as a paramedic and a 911 dispatcher in MI. I'm not sure what the laws are in other states, but in MI we can not go to a hospital and transport someone from anywhere in the hospital unless it is a transfer. Meaning if you call 911 and want to leave because you do not like the care you are getting or you do not think you are being seen fast enough we can not come get you unless you leave the hospital. We have 2 hospital within a 3/4 mile radius and our freq. 911 pt's know that if they walk accross the street we have to come get them and then we can take the across the river to the other hospital since they have the choice of where they can go. What happened is horrible and the hospital is the only people to blame, but in all fairness there may be more to the story that we don't know about. I have seen somethings that really make you question people and the motives they have. I am not saying this isn't true...what I am saying is that people never cease to amaze me, and in a large inner city hospitals and paramedics/911 dispatchers see and hear things that would blow you away. I had a lady call 911 screaming that she was dying and bleeing everywhere her husband was hysterical and also screaming she was dying. The crew got there and she had a paper cut........yes a paper cut. Just some food for thought
