Things to Register for! (for when child is no longer a NB)
I know these posts pop up every once in a while....
DS is now 7mos old, so all of these things apply to him NOW, not as a newborn. I registered for a lot of these little things (on a tip from someone else!). People always look for a little thing to throw in the wishing well, but if you go buy it all yourself, it adds up quickly!
- Sophie the Giraffe. yep, a $20 teether. NOT JUST A TEETHER! Sophie is DS' best friend! (after ME, of course!)
- White short sleeve onesies in all sizes. You always need these and you don't know how large your kid will be! Carters are my favorite... Gerber is really thin, shrink like crazy, and run reallllly small. My DS is 7mos old and currently wearing size 18mos undershirts.
- a mirror toy. He LOVES his own reflection!!
- feeding accessories. spoons, bowls, travel snack containers, etc. sippy cups!
- STRAPS to tether toys to either the stroller, high chair, shopping cart, etc.
- shopping cart cover (doubles as a public highchair cover)
- pacifier straps/clips
- CONVERTABLE CAR SEATS! I wasn't going to add this to the registry (was afraid of being called greedy, etc.), but the larger things were all purchased very quickly, so I added them. I was so grateful that my Aunts purchased them for us!
- Toddler BundleMe to keep on stroller. Perfect for a kid that doesn't keep blankets on!
Feel free to add your own!

Ditto on all of your stuff, except DD doesn't care for Sophie and doesn't use a pacifier.
Sippy Cups, the mesh food eater thing, lots of toys to keep her busy!!!

The things you put on the crib to prevent them from teething on it....I wish I knew this because DS's crib is destroyed!

I used a million washcloths when he was a newborn and registered for extra hooded towels. He is now almost 2.5 and he still uses them.
Ultimate crib sheets - they are a life saver when they are sick. If they throw up, no changing sheets in the middle of the night with a sobbing baby.
Feeding items - bowls with covers I still use.
Humidifier. I didn't realize I needed one until I REALLY needed one.

Extra high chair if you leave DC at a parent's house.
Convertible car seat for each car. MIL watches DS 2 days a week so we just bought her her own car seat, since they don't move easily. We also have one in each of our cars.
Umbrella/lightweight stroller

With the feeding supplies I would add the bibs that are for solids with the pocket-I want to call them plastic but they are not plasttic. You can wipe them off really easy.

I agree, everyone registers for so much newborn stuff but they grow quickly and they move on quickly to the toddler things. One reason I love the newborn to toddler rocker. My SIL has one and her dd is now 15 months she uses it more now than when she was infant. When I go to a shower I always buy clothes in larger sizes like 6-9 (because they grow so fast, and everyone always buys 0-3.

Re: Things to Register for! (for when child is no longer a NB)
DS is 8 months and in 2T sizes. I am 5'3" and never imagined I would have a ginormous baby. So I recommend not buying too many clothes until you know what you need. DS never wore onesies or undershirts. He kicks off his socks so I usually have him in PJs.
Right now he LOVES his leapfrog learning table and Sophie the giraffe. I love the Ultimate crib sheet and pacifier clips. I hadn't registered for bowls or utensils, but we used them early on. I mostly bought used stuff to keep at my mom's house (highchair, PNP, exercauser), and I am glad I didn't spend a ton on that stuff.
ITA with the convertible seats--since DS is huge he hit the height limit for the infant seat early on.

Re: Things to Register for! (for when child is no longer a NB)
Thanks!
I did register for a bunch of "bigger" things. Like the convertible carseat, teethers, booster seat, bigger size onsies & clothes, excersaucer, umbrella stroller. We got everything! I've been looking at it and thinking..where am I supposed to store it until I need it...but I guess it's good to have and I won't have to buy it myself! Plus, we got TONS of Gift Cards and we don't need anything right now, so I will hold on to those to use as I need them.

A bigger bathtub for when they outgrow the infant one.
We recently bought the Primo tub and it's great. Bigger than the newborn/infant tubs, but fits in our regular tub and uses less water.

i think this is a great idea. i was wondering if it was silly to put that stuff on there!
we didnt really get a lot of the older stuff (just mainly the car seat and high chair)...but got way too much nb and 0-3 clothes

Re: Things to Register for! (for when child is no longer a NB)
The take and toss stuff is great. They have sippy cups, spoons, bowls, forks, etc.. We use them all the time (and they are especially great if DC goes to daycare)
This is made by Munchkin. It's called a snack catcher. LOVE THIS!!! The cup keeps bite-sized snacks inside the container until little fingers pull them out.
One of those mesh feeding things. Great for fruits. I didnt use mine but I know a lot of mom's that swear by it.

Re: Things to Register for! (for when child is no longer a NB)
This is a great thread! I'm definitely notebooking it. I know I'm going to get a lot of my big stuff used on CL (well, not the crib or car seat, but other stuff) so I wanted to have a lot of smaller, useful items to put on the registry! Can never hurt!
