big old fashioned playpen

Now that santino is crawling /criusing all over the place I need a safe spot for him. I saw a colorful graco one. Anyfeedback or recommendations?

Re: big old fashioned playpen

I actually have Kenny penned up in an area like an old fashioned play pen. He can't get out and it's completely baby-safe! It's probably 10x8 feet. I think if you can find one to buy, go for it. You can also use it outside too!

If you don't think it's big enough you could try the enclosure. I think I had posted it for you before. I have it in my den and we keep expanding it. You can buy additional panels to make it bigger if you want to. It's very light too, so you can move it from room to room.

Re: big old fashioned playpen

Instead of getting a playpen, we bought the Superyard XL. We used to call it the 'baby cage' lol. Chat Icon I figured we could use it for a longer period of time than we could a playpen. You can get them for about $50 at BRU or online at Amazon.com.

Re: big old fashioned playpen

We just bought the superyard xt... it's the best! We put it against each end of the sectional so it squared off a section in the living room. It's really sturdy so even though it's not mounted to anything when she uses it to stand it moves but not much and doesn't fall over. When she gets stronger we're going to have to try to anchor it in the corners somehow or connect it in a circle shape instead but for now it's working great. Here's a pic you can see it in the background:

This looks great but Santino is such a bruiser that if it is not mounted it would be down in a second

You would be surprised. When the Superyard is connected together in a circle configuration, it will not fall down.

Re: big old fashioned playpen

I used the PNP until DS was 13 months then I used the superyard. It gave DS really the same to move around.

Re: big old fashioned playpen

I put DS in the pack n play on our split level where the dogs are. I do bring it outside when I garden too. So far he's good in it. I do always look at that colorful playpen because it's bigger but I'll wait to see if he "outgrows" the PnP.

I do not know why they do not make more old school big playpens. I guess it's all about those playyard things. Chat Icon

This is what I use with Kenny - but I don't "close it" I just use it in the shape of a big C to close him in a room. It's great!
