Well, we went from a sprained ankle to a full on leg cast...

The ER told us it was just a sprain but it was getting worse. I took her to the Pediatrician and he called Winthrop Orthopedic Associates right away. We headed over and they told us her tibia was broken. They have no idea how she is even walking on itChat Icon

Now she has a leg cast from her hip to her toes for a month at least. I feel so bad for her. She can't walk because they had to bend it for safety reasons in the carseat, etc. She doesn't get itChat Icon

Here is her little legChat Icon

oh no, the same thing happened to Derek last January. I was soooo nervous about the whole thing....but honestly in days, he knew how to get around with it. I did feel like he was a little "depressed" from it...hard to explain, but he was not himself...he also lost some weight....the time does go quick though, once it was over, I thought it went pretty face.

We went to winthrop as well.Chat Icon

How did he recover? I am worried she is going to have problems walking when they take the cast off because she can't walk on the cast. It will be a month of her crawling aroundChat Icon

My DH broke his leg when he was 18 months old...it didn't take him long to walk around with the cast on - I think it was only a couple of days he was up and around

he actually walked on the cast...wasn't supposed to, but there was no stopping him...once it was off he was fine...I was so nervous that it was going to affect him, but he was the same as he was before as far as running and stuff...it's really hard though....you have to carry them everywhere because they are not supposed to walk on it (like when you are out and stuff) so this took some getting used to, because I wouldn't have to carry him all the time before.

eta:My son had his on for 8 weeks...when I first heard that, I thought it was going to be the hardest 8 weeks...but I would say after a couple of days to a week, we all started getting used to it....It was just so sad to seeChat Icon
