Preparing for hurricane - What do you do about food?

Now that I have a DS, I'm taking preparing for something like this more seriously. I can survive a day or two on Cap'n Crunch but my DS can't.

He's 22 months and eats mostly food that we eat.

What food should I have in the house that works for HIM? Worst case scenario we can't heat food up so what should I have that will be edible. I know people mention using their grill but if it's crazy windy out you can't grill and you can't bring a grill into the house.

What are some things to have that can just be eaten cold/room temp?

ETA: I'm thinking of buying those Horizon boxed milks I've seen in the supermarket bc DS is a huge milk drinker and no power = spoiled milk. Am I overreacting here? I never would have stressed this pre-mommyhood.

I bought shelf stable milk boxes (not Horizon...the store brand). Peanut Butter & Jelly, bread, water, snacks, some canned stuff, fruit, and that's about it. In the event of an outage, we will just eat PBJ, cereal, fruit and if we are really starving after eating all those things...some cold spaghettios and soup Chat Icon

I got some of the gerber yogurts that don't need refrigeration, horizon milk, cereals, I got some of those precooked gerber meals she has never had them before but I figure in a worse case scenario they will do.

DURING the storm, you can do the horizon milks, cereal, fruits (get a lot that are not quite ripe), bread, cheese, ect. I'd essentially eat clean my fridge. If you lose power, but stuff in freezer & don't open it.

AFTER the storm, the major problem is no electricity. Honestly, I had a big blackout while I was preggo... we at a lot of grilled food & we got FIREWOOD (we have a fireplace). Canned fruits are always great to have around, chips, salsa, ect. I figure... not healthy stuff, but stuff that will SUSTAIN you.

The precooked Gerber meals are great...they don't even need to be heated really- they are fully cooked.
They also make a Gerber Pasta Pickups Raviloi- also precooked and DD loves them
