any tips for moving with pets?
Im moving across my complex and im worried my 7 year old dog will be confused. He moved once at age 2 and was totally fine, im not sure if im worrying for nothing. What do i do the day of the move? We are having friends help us. Should he stay in the apt until its empty and than i walk him to the new place? Am i overthinking this lol? I think he knows somethings up cuz the apt is in shambles right now. Tia

Re: any tips for moving with pets?
We moved across the building a few years ago. I left the dog at my moms overnight because she gets a little bit anxious when things are being packed up. She honestly was a little weirded out the first day and that was it. We recently moved further and I left her at my moms overnight (the day we moved) and she was fine. I also left the baby with my mom overnight too and she (the dog) seems to be less anxious when they are together, go figure. She really just likes us to all be together so once we had the boxes in and she realized we were all staying, she went back to her normal self.

We left our dog with a doggy day care center while we moved and after all the boxes were moved we had him come over he was okay when we brought him over and gave him his raw hide and dog bed

thanks. i think he will be ok. the houes is in shambles so i think he will put two and two together the day of the move. luckily, he is a very chill dog and even with the apt in this state, he is his normal lazy self.

Re: any tips for moving with pets?
HI, thought I would give this a go.
When we moved my In Laws took the dog for overnight. My dog LOVES them. We sent him with plenty of treats and toys.
When thy brought him to the new house I made sure that I had all his toys ready, his favorite blanket out and food and water dish out and ready. I think having those familiar things made it easy for him. As soon as we brought out HIS blanket he went nuts! He realized this was home. But I packed all his things in my car and had them handy and ready for his return. A big bone and new toy that evening didn't hurt either.

I was afraid my dog would have serious issues when we moved. She didnt even bat an eye. I was truly shocked but 1 thing that probably helped was that DH was home on bed rest after an accident so she wasnt alone until about 4 months later so she was completely used to the house by then.

Re: any tips for moving with pets?
We moved yesterday and last night, he was EXHAUSTED from all the excitement. He is a little disoriented when going out for walks, which way is the elevator, where to turn for walks, but we will get a new routine down quickly, im sure.
