Germs stay away!!

When your kids are sick (or even just generally speaking), do any of you ladies take vitamins or supplements that help your immune system to avoid getting sick yourself ? And do they work?

Ha, I'm sure you all know--mommy can't get sick!

Thx!

Germs stay away!!

I swear by airborne (or the knockoff versions)... And for me, it does work... If I do get sick, its usually a very short lasting cold...

Even the store brands of it work awesome.
You have to catch it early though.
First sign of a cold coming- take it 3 times a day.
It knocks it out awesome

Thanks!!

Quick question--do you only take it when your feeling sick? Or just when everyone around you is sick?

Same.
Once in a while I will take it if DD and DH are sick - to prevent it.
But usually not

I've used zicam and it always seems to help. I never get colds as bad or as long as DH. I take vitamin C when people around me are sick.

Germs stay away!!

I have been lucky. DS gets colds all the time since he is in daycare. I have only had 1 cold in his short year!

I do not do anything special.

I take prenatals when I feel like I'm getting sick. Those things kept me so healthy when I was TTC.

Re: Germs stay away!!

Here's some ways that I try to boost my immune system naturally:

1. Avoid sugar as much as possible since it weakens your immune system. As soon as you feel sick, cut it out completely, along with dairy(increases mucus production).

2. Drink a green smoothie daily.

3. I take a few slices of ginger, steep them in hot water and drink with a few squirts of fresh lemon juice.

4. Take a walk outside to get some sun. sunlight helps your body to produce vitamin d which is necessary to fight off illness.

5. if you start feeling sick, drink a mixture of water, raw honey with lemon. The raw part is important, as the processed kind found in grocery stores is not as potent. This is the kind I use:

Raw honey

6. During cold and flu season, you could take a tbs of elderberry juice a day to boost immunity. Or one you start getting sick, take it a few times a day to shorten the duration.

7. Eat fermented foods to strengthen your gut. A healthy gut = a strong immune system. If you can't eat fermented foods, you could take probiotics.

Probiotics Elderberry juice
