Fundraiser..EXCUSE ME!
So DH picks Bella up most days and I got home from a loooooong day's work yesterday to find a huge envelope sticking out of her diaper bag...
It was for the fall FUNDRAISER for her daycare/school...UM, I pay almost 1400 dollars a month for you to take care of my child and now you want me to buy 10 dollar giftwrap and 15 dollar cheesecakes to RAISE money for "your children and the school"
I love, love, love my daycare, but I am really pi$$ed off....what the hell?
I mean, this is expensive stuff, there wasn't an item less than 8 bucks! What happened to those yummy Crackle bars for like 1 buck...I would have bought like 40 of those.
Am I wrong to be so irate?
Oh and they expect this to all be done by October 3rd...um, I work, that's why your watching my kid!

Re: Fundraiser..EXCUSE ME!
i'd me mad. its one thing when they fundraise in public school (for uniforms or whatever) but when you are paying for private "school" i think they have some nerve.

Re: Fundraiser..EXCUSE ME!
That thoroughly annoys me. It was one thing when my kids were at a non-profit daycare for employees (and I was only paying $900/month). When I switched & it went up to almost $2K/month, it infuriated me.
What's worse is they expect me to solicit other people for this...

That's what I mean...I pay for them to make my life EASIER, not to make it more difficult...

If I believed for one minute that it would LOWER my tuition as I did at the non-profit, then it wouldnt' bother me so much. Once they were at for profit place, I was annoyed. They use it for teachers supplies...yeah right. You are using it to cut your costs so you can make a profit.

Oh - the Scholastic Book Fair or Muscular Dystrophy fundraisers I didn't mind. For a good cause I don't mind it.

Re: Fundraiser..EXCUSE ME!
I was JUST telling DH yesterday that I"m sick of daycare putting these things in Alex's lunchbox at the end of the day. We just got the same one as you, but let me tell you, this is by NO means the first time. It's probably the 15th one I've gotten. With the money I'm already spending, I DON'T THINK SO! And we use a synogague, which I'm sure gets PLENTY of funding from their congregants. Hmph.

We must be sending our kid to the same school...It sort of ****** me off too when I saw the catalog. Especially when my Mom got the 3rd Degree this week about why we weren't at Sunday's services to support yet ANOTHER fundraiser. Hello??? I don't go to your church - I'm paying for 2 hours a day worth of "schooling" for my daughter a few days a week. If you're not getting enough thythes from your parishoners, it's not my fault!

I have to say my center send this cr@p home as well...
Its the company- not the center...,
My director is embarassed that she even has to hand this stuff out....
You are 100% right its ridiculous...
Although- the book fairs, and March of Dimes stuff is a different story...

Re: Fundraiser..EXCUSE ME!
Daycares do this too?? Jeez! My son is in preK and his first day we came home with our first fundraiser package. Its all crap too...my DH would rather just be hit up for a straight donation, esp considering the school only gets 1/5 of the $. I refuse to solicit anyone. His school does emphasize that they dont want anyone to feel pressured but still... I cant wait till I have 3 kids in school
I cant believe daycares do it. How annoying!

It reminds me when they would held a Mom's brunch that I had to miss. I kept thinking "I have her in daycare because I work! You're supposed to make this easier not make up events that I have to miss."

I remember that! Seriously, do they not get it? Maybe I should write it in the memo of my check that I write them on the 1st of every month...

Re: Fundraiser..EXCUSE ME!
I'd be PO'd too. I have yet to see this at Tutor Time but that doesn't mean it won't happen.
I'm with you; you're paying all this money why force this down your throat and make you feel OBLIGATED because you're child goes there.

Re: Fundraiser..EXCUSE ME!
Do you have to participate? We do it at my center. We are not-for-profit and any money we earn goes to something special for the children. Our parents are not required to do it. It is optional.

Re: Fundraiser..EXCUSE ME!
Yup...my son goes to Pre-K in a Catholic school where the tuition is pretty steep. They have the GiftWrap sale, Candy sale, Cookie Dough sale, Craft Fair, Holiday Fair, Carnival, Easter Candy sale, Mother's day Sale, Father's Day sale...there's even probably more. And, they EXPECT you will participate. And you HAVE to do the candy sale.
The nerve...

Re: Fundraiser..EXCUSE ME!
That's crazy.... Never heard of that for day care. I remember selling the chocolate bars w/almond when I went to catholic school. They were so good, only $1 and even the wrapper had a coupon on the inside for McDonald's
