Job related question
Hi all just a question..I have been told by some people that it will be difficult for me to get a teaching job in LI b/c i have only taught pre-k (for 4 years). I took the pre-k position in a Catholic school 3 years ago b/c i got to go to graduate school and get 40% off my tuition. I never really wanted to teach pre-k but it was a good thing for me to do at the time. I now have a Masters in Literacy (completed a practicum) and 4 years teaching experience. Is it true that my resume won't be looked at b/c i have Pre-K on there?? Thanks in advance
Sorry so long.

Re: Job related question
Regardless of what your resume has on it - elementary jobs on LI are very, very tough to get. I don't necessarily think that only having pre-K will hurt you - I think the crazy amount competition is going to be the bigger problem.
Also (and I didn't find this to be true, but other people did) districts are sometimes leery to hire new people with a Master's as it puts you much higher on the payscale (again, my district didn't have a problem with this, and I have 2 Master's degrees).

Re: Job related question
Thanks for your response. The competition is crazy. I'm just worried that pre-k would hold me back even in districts other then LI. I also heard a while back that having a Masters also might cause a problem but I'm just that that's not true..hopefully!
