Perm. Sub
Typically how much do they make on LI, do you get sick days?? Any pros or cons to this??? Do you start the same day as teachers? What happens if no teachers are absent??

Re: Perm. Sub
I was a permanent sub my first year out of school...we made $100 per day..no sick time, no vacation pay, no benefits...we started october 1st...we did things in the building for the principal if there wasn't a teacher out...overall it was a good experience, but I knew that it wasn't going to help me get a job there (3 years later, one perm sub is still a perm sub there)

Re: Perm. Sub
from my understanding (and from a few interviews in different districts) as a perm sub, you are still just a "sub" but guaranteed a job everyday, so therefore no benefits of any kind.

My husband is a perm. sub again this year he started last year in March graduated in Dec. So it hasn't been a full year yet. Hopefully after this year a position might be opening up. His school district pays $125 or $130 a day But lucky for him he has benefits thru me and doesn't really need to worry right now about money my salary is working out for us. I think he will do this for another year and then we will look into other options if this doesn't pan out. He is also on a few school districts sub list. If you think u have a shot in that school district I would take the position. At least you know everyday you are going in and it is a foot in the door. I know at times he gets frustrated and wishes he had his own class to teach.
Good Luck

Re: Perm. Sub
I was a perm sub and got benefits just not in union. 95 dollars a day. Perm subs were automatically given the leave replacements but until the teachers sick time ran out they only got 100 dollars a day then got teacher step salary. HTH

Re: Perm. Sub
I was a perm sub last year and the district paid $105 a day and you started day 1 till the last day of school. You could also get benefits but did not get paid when there was no school
