dutch oven?
I am thinking of making a soup for thanksgiving and it says it needs to be cooked in a dutch oven....
any ideas on where I can purchase a good/relatively inexpensive one? Hints on Brands to look for/stay away from would be very much appreciated....
TIA CarrieAnn

Re: dutch oven?
I bought mine on Ebay but I have seen some nice ones at Tuesday Morning. and relatively cheap...since a good Dutch oven can cost a pretty penny.

Re: dutch oven?
try to find anything that is enameled cast iron. I know homegoods usually has some.
honestly, I can virtually garantee that you don't absolutely need a dutch oven for the soup. the purpose of dutch ovens is to limit moisture loss while cooking (with the heavy lid). You could easily use a similar sized pot... the only thing you would have to do is likely stir a bit more frequently, and add a little water now and then to prevent evaporation.
I own 3 le creuset pots and LOVE them. We use them for casseroles and stews all the time. If you, however, don't really make stews or casseroles, I wouldn't invest the $$ in a dutch oven... you can make do with what you have
