WWYD... Is this TOTALLY wrong?

Okay - so my husband worked for a shop that he really liked last year.
When he left, the shop super thought he was turning out and indicated that he would want to keep him. Rob told him that he had another year - to which the super responded that Rob should give him a call when he turned out. Rob will NEVER call or e-mail or anything. He assumes that the man was just being nice - but the fact is that he is out of a job and NEEDS to work. I don't think putting in a call would be a bad idea - even if nothing comes of it.

But he refuses to call.

I found the website for Roland and they have contact e-mails on there. If I can figure out which one is the shop super, would it be COMPLETELY wrong of me to write 'pretending' to be my husband? If the response is negative or non-existant, I just wouldn't tell him. BUT... if the response is positive I am thinking he would be too happy to be angry.

On the other hand.. it is a bit of a shady thing to do.

Tough call. Personally my DH would be mad even IF he did get the job. Almost like I was stealing his thunder KWIM. Maybe show DH the site and mention that it goes directly to the super and maybe he will take it apon himself. GL

I wouldn't do that - It's not like you're taking care of something he's just being careless about - this is his job. I'd be LIVID if DH did something like that to me, I'd never do it to him .........

I can understand you being frustrated that he won't make the call himself though ..........

I can see how you want to, and I'd probably be tempted to myself, but you can't.
Now if you "happen to run into him" that is another story....

Re: WWYD... Is this TOTALLY wrong?

Try to convince him to call but do not do it yourself!

I would be SOOOO mad at if my wife did this even if I DID get the job.

I agree. DH would KILL me if I did that without telling him. Mention you found the email address, and let him take it from there...

Re: WWYD... Is this TOTALLY wrong?

I was recently in a similar situation

DH is a mortgage banker- and the business isn't what it was (duh)

I saw a great ad last week for a company doing loan modifications and short sales etc - using his skills- in a different way- not a complete change- which I saw as a plus

I sent his resume

then when I looked at the address and realized a comment about the office sounded like a place where he used to work- I got excited

he got mad

his old boss emailed him

Jake told him I sent the resume

he reluctantly went in to meet with the guy

he starts next week

so while I got yelled at- my DH did end up taking the job- and it's much better then where he was

not sure how much this helps- but sometimes you have to do what you have to do to pay the billsChat Icon

i know its wrong but you know your dh and only you know how he would react i personally would do it cause my dh would also never do it on his own, he might get upset with me at first but he would get over it and if he got the job he would be grateful so my opinion is i woud do it

Screw that!
No job= nothing, nada,no $$, arguments, fustration.

I'd send the resume and take the heat if I had to. Your chances are 50/50..worth it in my book.

Good Luck.

Just spoke to DH. He said absolutely tell him to call. Say is "I don't know if you remembered me, but I worked for you last year. You asked me to give you a call when I finished. Now that I'm done, I was wondering if you had any open jobs."

He said everyone else is calling, there is no reason why he shouldn't make the call too.

Even if he was being "nice", the reason he would want to keep Rob is because he gets the job done, which says something about the type of electrician he is.

I definitely wouldn't call or email for him. Also tell him to call over email - the voice can jog his memory.

Good luck!

There were layoffs on DH's job today. He wasn't one of them but it's a 6 month wait to go back.Chat Icon
