St Lucia
Can anyone recommend a nice hotel in St Lucia? We are looking to go away in Dec for DH's 30th birthday. He doesn't like all-inclusives so something other than Sandals would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for the help

Re: St Lucia
DH and I had consideredThe Ladrea for our honeymoon before we decided against the Caribbean.
Check out tripadvisor. I can honesty say I've only been disappointed once when we chose a hotel through recommendations on that site.
ETA: Also check out This Hotel! Looks Gorgeous!

Re: St Lucia
We went to St Lucia on our honeymoon and LOVED the Sandals Halcyon. I know you mentioned that you weren't a fan of AIs, but the grounds were beautiful. It was small and didn't look as Amercanized as some of the other hotels.

That's anse chastanet! We honeymooned there in 2005!!!!!!!!!! LOVED it!!!!!! They have added a few more rooms (Jade mountain spa) that are $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. They didnt have those rooms when we were there - but the place is amazing. No pool - and LOADS of stairs (the resort is carved into a mountain). We didnt care about the stairs - but if you dont want them, then get a room/cottage on the beach.
We did the all inclusive option - but you dont have to. It's a small hotel and is kind of the anti-sandals (nothing against sandals - but anse chastanet calls itself that)

Re: St Lucia
So weird. My parents and a few of our friends went to St. Lucia and didn't like it at all. They said there are more beautiful places and better then that.
They said to go into town was super scary and there were a lot of gorilla type people that would wait near the beaches.
At one of the hotels our friends stayed at you couldn't go past a certain line on the beach because it was too dangerous.

Re: St Lucia
DH and I honeymooned at The Body Holiday.
LOVED it!!!!! If you like active vacations, its perfect! There were organized runs and hikes, and you could take archery or tennis lessons. Tons of water sports to do and beautiful spa and gym. Every day there is an hr spa treatment included into your day (fabulous!) and the ppl were some of the nicest we'd ever met. Its is all-inclusive though...
