question for ya re: jogging
Do you think jogging 3miles straight equals to jogging 1.5m stopping so the kids can play for about 1.5hr then jogging 1.5m home?
This is what I did today and I usually don't like to stop in between but I thought the park I was jogging to was further and now I just mapped it and I was wrong. I'm annoyed because I usually don't do less then 3m straight now I feel like I did nada.

Re: question for ya re: jogging
If you are going for milage, yes, but if you are trying to build endurance for longer runs, then no.

Re: question for ya re: jogging
Just to add to Miss Jones, I don't think the amount of calories burned will be the same either since your heart rate isn't up for as long amount of time.

That's what I thought. I guess if I'm going to do it again I'll take a longer route. Do you think you still burn a decent amount of calories doing such a short jog?

Re: question for ya re: jogging
logically i would say no, as the PPs have mentioned...but research says breaking up 30 minutes into 3 10 min sessions is good for your heart and can help in losing weight
http://health.families.com/blog/what-ten-minutes-of-exercise-can-do-for-you
i guess you are raising your heart rate 3 times instead of once and you get the benefit from a raised pulse three times a day (you know how they say that you continue to burn calories after you stop?)

Re: question for ya re: jogging
Also, what are you looking to get out of running? If you are training for 5K's and races and stuff, then no...I don't think it would have the effect you are looking for.
but for overall health and fitness, I look at it like this...you are getting out there and DOING something. Running there, playing and running back is sooo much better than watching tv.

I'm just jogging for myself not for any races. My goal is to try to fix up my body a little But I guess your right at least I got out there instead of watching tv because that's what I probably would of been doing
Thanks for the responses
