Teachers on power trips...
Honestly, sometimes I wish there were some sort of screening so people with power trips couldn't become teachers.
I had a senior talking to me after school today (one of THE best students in the school -- not an exaggeration by any means), and he was SO upset because of rules that certain teachers create just for the hell of it -- not reasonable, not fair and certainly inflexible. This is a kid who's being punished just because a teacher CAN and not because he did ANYTHING wrong.
I get SO aggravated when teachers are so rigid and unrelenting because they feel like they HAVE to be. This poor kid was in tears and saying he couldn't wait for high school to be over, and that's the LAST way I want them to feel by the time they get to the end.
Sorry so long... I just hated to see him so upset. It was not a good end to the day.

I have memories of teachers like this from HS.
I remember my Spanish teacher making me cry because I had been in the hallway without a pass (I forget the reason.. but I had a good one) and she gave me detention!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was such a GOOD KID who never did ANYTHING wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She just felt like yelling
