Name change question
OK so after 2 years of being married I think its time I move and change my name. Id still like to keep my maiden name for work purposes though- can I even do that??. Do you guys know if I have to change the paychecks to my married now or can I just leave it the way it is? How do I go about it if I have to change it...

Re: Name change question
Whatever you decide to do: be consistent.
If all of your tax forms and ID is in your married name, then switch payroll. If you are in NYC, you need a copy of marriage license AND soc sec card in new name. You also have to switch over your DOE email because if you ever try to access payroll portal, it won't let you. If you have NYC insurance switch that over as well. Don't forget UFT.
That being said: a co-worker HATES her married name. All of payroll, etc... has been changed. But as far as the building goes she still uses her maiden name (with students, schedules, mailbox)
