D&C what can I expect.
I was just wondering what I can expect from the D&C or D&E? Do they put you to sleep? Is it done in the hospital? I'm not really sure which I am going to have considering I am already 13 weeks 3 days and I am still awaiting my full CVS results before having it done. I included a link just so everyone can understand what is going on.

Re: D&C what can I expect.
I am so sorry to hear what you are going through.
I did not have my D&C at the hospital (although I would definitely recommend getting one at the hospital) In the hospital they put you tto sleep and it's best not to be awake for it. I don't know what a D&E is.....
If there is anything you need or just want to talk and vent this is a great place. More from me...

Re: D&C what can I expect.
THanks for your response. The D&E and similar to a D&C but its done when you're further along.

Re: D&C what can I expect.
I am so sorry!!
I had a D&C after having a miscarriage at 15 weeks to remove the remaining placenta. I had it done in the hospital. They put me to sleep for about 20 minutes or so. When I woke up everyting was done (it wasn't bad). Afterwards I had slight cramping for a day or two, and bled for about 1 week after.

Re: D&C what can I expect.
I am sorry about your loss. I can't imagine what you are going through.
I had a D&C in March when my pregnancy ended at 19 weeks, I delivered the baby vaginally, and was rushed into theater to remove the placenta after it didn't come out. It was fairly quick and easy, I had a spinal so I was awake and talking during. Apparently they use a tool to open your cervix and the literally scrape out the product that is left in. Afterwards I felt no pain whatsoever, and once the spinal wore off and I went home, I actually felt pretty great. It wasn't nearly as traumatic as I thought it would be.
Good luck!
This week I hit 19 weeks pregnant again, so hopefully if trying again is what you guys want, there is a lot of hope for you! Only good things to come!

Re: D&C what can I expect.
I'm so sorry you are going through this. I had a d&c and it was done in a hospital as a same day surgery procedure. I went in at 9 am and was out by noon. The procedure itself was only about 15-20 minutes. The rest of the time is the pre-op work and then they keep you afterwards for a bit. I had a little bleeding afterwards but not alot at all. I did have some light cramping that day and then maybe two days later some more cramping. I was under anasthesia for the procedure. If you have any other questions or want to talk feel free to fm me.

Re: D&C what can I expect.
Im so sorry for your loss
I had a d&c at 7 weeks and I was REALLY scared. Especially being put under since I never was before. I had it done at LIJ and I have to say it wasnt bad at all. They only put you out for like 20 minutes since the whole procedure takes like 15. After I woke up I was in recovery, bleeding a little but overall not too bad. We were in and out of the hospital in a few hours.
Afterwards, I felt pretty good. Not groggy or crampy or in any pain. DH and I actually went out to lunch afterwards. (Not that we were celebrating but you know what I mean)
If you have any questions or want to talk, feel free to FM me. Im sorry you are going through this

Re: D&C what can I expect.
I'm so so very sorry you are going through all of this, I can not imagine how devistated you must be right now. I had it done twice both at around 10 wks, simple quick and painless! A little crampy afterwards but ok! Emotionaly is worse then anything b/c it's final, but with time it only gets easier. Good Luck!

Re: D&C what can I expect.
My d&c was done in a hospital. I was put asleep for it. When I woke up I was crampy and uncomfortable, but that really went away by the next morning. The bleeding was period like for 1 week, except one day I did have pretty severe cramps and passed some clots, but I was given pain medication and when I took that things settled. It was and still is more emotional than anything. I wish you well and will be thinking of you.

Re: D&C what can I expect.
I had 2 D&C's both done in the hospital. You are put to sleep and when you wake up just uncomfortable and crampy. Bad cramps only lasted a day or so for me and the reg cramps lasted a few days and nothing that motrin wouldn't take care of. The emotional part was the hardest for me. If you need to talk please let me know. I'm so sorry for your loss.
