Anyone give their dogs Claritin for allergies?

I know I can give Benadryl but I know it will make her tired so I'd rather avoid it. Her symptoms appear mild but I want to be prepared in case they get worse.

My vet told me how much to dose her, I just wanted to know if anyone else does this and what their dog's reaction is - hyper? Tired? Also, if there are different kinds of Claritin, which do you use?

We haven't tried Claritin - just Benadryl. When we give her a half-tablet of Benadryl she really doesn't seem lethargic. A whole tablet definitely slows her down though.

We also give Amber an antacid sometimes (with the proper dosing instructions of course) for her empty tummy issues.

In both instances I have switched to generic/store brands and not seen any side effects versus the brand name.

Sorry I have no actual experience with the Claritin though! Just other random OTCs!

We give my dogs claritin and it does not make them tired, but they are 60 and 80 lbs each. They sleep all day already anyway so not sure anything could make them sleep more.

I give my dog regular Claritin (Loratadine 10 mg) for her allergies. It doesn't make her tired at all. My vet told me to make sure I don't give her Claritin D.

Claritin D contains pseudoephedrine which can kill dogs.
