Kindergarten backpacks
Ok, talk to me: what's appropriate, what's cool, where to buy, what kind does your own little K-student have??? My boy loves SpongBob so I was thinking of getting him something with that theme. Is that OK or is that inappropriate/too childish?
He also has a really cute, very simple blue backpack with his first name on it but I am weary of him walking around with his name on display.. Is that silly?

Re: Kindergarten backpacks
I did mongrams on their backpacks.
Spongebob is fine - even for kindgarten.
Spongebob is probably the only cartoon that doesn't seem to get old. Dora is the kiss of death, Star Wars is ok, even Spiderman loses his allure.

Re: Kindergarten backpacks
Jordan was all about character backpacks until either 2nd or 3rd grade. Then is was a no-no.

Re: Kindergarten backpacks
I think Kindergarten is still OK for a cartoon backpack, but if you want it to last longer, you may want to choose something more "neutral"

Re: Kindergarten backpacks
My son just finished Kindergarten and I had ordered him a Star Wars one online. The stores didn't have what he liked so mommy HAD to make his Kindergarten year special!

Re: Kindergarten backpacks
I'm taking the "your a big boy" approach with going to Kindergarten, so I'm getting a monogramed backpack for my son that will last him many years. Plus I hate anything character and let them have their character backpacks for preschool.

Re: Kindergarten backpacks
The boys this year had star wars, Gi joe, and even s few spidermans. No spongebobs or supermans.
I have a boy, but I noticed a hllow kitty back pack for the girls. They mostly just had cutesy ones, no characters.
I am thinking for 1st grade my ds might need a more grown-up one with no character, but last year it was totally fine.

Re: Kindergarten backpacks
I gave in 20 bucks to the school for a supply list that they will purchase on behalf of Bella.
One of the items will be a backpack. All of the kids will have the same backpack...I was told by a BTDT mom that it places all the kids on the same level with their supplies. I had mixed feelings about it because I wanted to pick out a backpack with her, but I completely understand.
Now I just have to pimp out her lunchbox
