drinks with subordinates?

Just wondering if you go out with subordinates. My old boss (who was a whackadoo) used to go out with us all the time, and actually I looked down on her a bit for that b/c she acted so nutso when we went out.

I would like to go for drinks with someone who works for me, to just shoot the $hit and talk turkey, but I don't know if I should suggest this, or if she would think it's weird.

I work for a young company. When I was outside the city we used to go to Happy Hour all the time. We're all about the same age and it was so much fun.

BTW... worked in different depts then some of my co-workers so didn't really effect anything. Lots of hook-ups and crazy stories, but nothing too bad.

Now, not so much. Married with a 1 year old so hard to go out. I go for special occasions. Last time was the Holiday party so it's been a while.

I have many subordinates and I would not go out in social settings with any. I am occasionally invited to weddings here or there. Unfortunately I decline those as well.

I am a subordinate and I hang out with my boss often. I actually was out for drinks with me and three of my bosses recently

I used to go out with my old bosses when i worked in the city...it was actually nice to see the more "human" side of them, not just the work & stress part.
