Because 4.5 is going to kill me Chat Icon

My DS is incredibly "intense' as I call it, pushes me to the limit at every given chance, must be told to do something a minimum of 10 times to the point where I feel like I am acting like Mommy Dearest , and is just overall driving me loony...

He also is extremely active & athletic and cannot sit still for a second...If I have to say "Stop throwing the ball in the house" one more time Chat Icon

For the BTDT moms of boys, when did you start to see the tides start turn if you had a DS like mine ???

I'm not asking for perfection, just a little peace Chat Icon

I have no idea, my DS is 6 and is the freaking Energizer Bunny. He too plays ball in the house, and has resorted to using some of my household objects to use as a bat Chat Icon

He wasn't always like this. He used to be so calm and peaceful. He was my good child Chat Icon

DS is seven is sounds similar to your son. He has gotten a *little* better the past two years, but he is far from calm and often still needs to be told to do something more than once.

Hmmmmm DS is ONLY 2 and I just asked the ped this question the other day! I told her I am scared to send him to school b/c he's so hyper/active. I wonder if he'll listen to the teacher?!? Chat Icon I actually compared to his behavior to a puppy and she said he will calm down as he gets older. Chat Icon

I don't have a boy, but my DD just turned 4 and she is a maniac! Full of energy, can't sit still. Her idea of fun is taking matchbox cars, filling bowls of water up at my coffee table and giving them a car wash and then wrapping them up in paper towels to give to us as presents. Everything is a constant mess, constant battle. I have no advise!

put him in sports.....keep him busy
my dd who will 9yrs old is also athletic and full of energy.....she plays soccer (and just started lacrosse) she has a practice or game almost veryday
on the days that she doesnt have sports she has too much energy (for exaple she didnt have anything yesterday so she went for a 2.5 mile run with dh,then we all did an hour bike ride, then a walk to 7-11) then later she had a soccer scrimmage for an hour with her Dad and did soccer drills for another hour)
this is all by her choice.....she cannot sit still so she uses that energy to play sports and it helps

He is in tee-ball, but we are in between seasons...I really think he might like gymnastics- I need to stop dragging my feet and get him signed up !!

The girls used to take Gymnastics. There is a gym closer to me that I would definitely recommend. They kept the kids busy where, at some of the other gyms, the kids spend a lot of time WAITING for it to be their turn...

WOW- I thought you were writing about my DS. He is driving me nuts lately. I am home with him this summer and already I am losing it.

I hope that things get better for both of us soon. When is your DS going to be 5?

I have 2 older boys and they drove me nuts at that age!! Two things happened that calmed them down: #1~ kindergarten, because they have to behave or else they turned a card and lost recess and #2~ I signed them up for karate and that helped a lot! They learned disipline, self control and also the teachers were always telling them it is very important to behave at home!!:)
