How much to spay a dog?
Just out of curiosity - it's not clear if the dog we want is spayed, so we may have to get it done ourselves, which is fine, but I am just trying to get a general idea of how much it will be. TIA!

Re: How much to spay a dog?
we paid about 400 each time (two doggies) when it was all said and done ... also we wanted them to get microchipped which added 80 dollars to the cost.

Re: How much to spay a dog?
Here are the rates for the medical center at NSAL.
I'm pretty sure you do not have to adopt from them to use their medical center. The prices are very affordable. My vet charges significantly more than this for dogs -- I think around $600 to spay a dog, which includes one night of boarding.
I have taken my cats to the medical center at NSAL (we adopted from them and had to take them for some post-adoption stuff). I thought the vets were great when we were there, so I'd certainly consider them for spay/neuter.

I had my dog neutered at NSAL (we adopted him there so it was free) but I just wanted to say they did a wonderful job and 2 weeks later Rocky's stitches are healed and he is perfect.

Thank you for this - we would prefer to get it done in Suffolk County where we live but this is great to know

I would have rather going to my normal vet but since it was free but I dropped Rocky off at 730 am and picked him up after 4pm. it was super smooth process and they really were great with the animals.
And I almost picked up a new puppy when I did a quick walk-through of the kennel......so many adorable puppies....I had to run out of there before I took one home.

Re: How much to spay a dog?
go to friendsofanimals.com and get a certificate and find out which vet accepts them.
babylon animal hospital did and my cat (was a stray) would have been done for 50.00 if she didn't go into heat first, because she did, it was like 100.00 (that included a shot too i think)

I should also add that my cats were both neutered there and my (late) dog was spayed there as well. They all had no complications.
