What's wrong with my Puppy???

We have a one and a half year old pit mix... he's always happy and loves being around people. But today... he didn't want to be around me and baby at all today. I noticed that his ears are now hanging down, but I just figured that maybe it was just from the heat. I put the AC on even tho it wasn't hot in our house, but he wanted nothing to do with it. But then when I got home later on today, I noticed that his ears are still hanging low, and he seems to have alot of extra skin just sorta hanging there under his neck and between his front paws. It's also very red...like it's irratated. Please, someone tell me my Pup Pup is OK...

And his ears are soo far down...


We havn't changed his diet... he eats a big can of wet food at night mixed with dry food and cool water. All day long he has access to dry food. He hasn't been eating it all lately. We noticed he is refusing to drink his water ...
Anyone have any advice??

Could the collar be irritating him? Fleas? other bugs.. mites etc.? Allergic reaction to a bite or a newly developed allergy?
I would definitely take him to the vet right away to stop what is bothering him.
Poor guy .

Yes, we are planning on taking him tomorrow afternoon or Saturday... I feel soo bad. He had the same collar for well over a year, but we took it off anyways. We'll see how he is in the morning. He has no fleas..no bugs .. no nothing. We checked over and over again. He doesn't want to drink...so we think the heat may be getting to him...but to just have skin suddenly hang like that is scaring us. Oy..I hope all is OK... he's still just a BABY!

He needs to see a vet asap. Something is clearly wrong. Please don't wait. He looks so uncomfortable. Poor baby, such a cutie. Please let us know what the vet says.

The collar is off and we are calling first thing in the morning. He's still acting normal outside... drinking only from the leaking hose LOL... and looking around for cats. But just having his skin be sooo lost soo quickly gets me nervous. I feel horrible...he was fine this morning...and just figured he was hanging out in the bedroom alone all day b/c he was upset I left him alone to go the the Ped today.

Just an update for whoever is reading this post LOL...
I gave him a coldish bath this morning...since when I touched him he did seem rather hot. I noticed while I was washing him that his skin is red EVERYWHERE!! An hour after the bath, his ears a perked up a bit more, he seems to have a bit more energy...but he's stillnot himself. The skin is still hanging there...but doesnt seem as much... if that's at all possible. The redness is less since the bath...I am going to put his hot spot medicine all over him later on. I want to make sure it keeps clearing up some on it's own first. Also, our good friend is a vet...so he's going to be coming over later this afternoon. I hope all is well. ...

it could be allergies, my dog had food allergies and it made his ears, neck and body all red.

Did you clean it out to see if there was any discharge? If theres discharge then its an ear infection

Please update ASAP! Very concerned. I believe Pneumonia is going around. If you pinch is skin does it "tent" or bounce back?

Sounds like he might be dehydrated. If you lift up the skin/coat and it is very loose and doesn't "bounce" back, it's dehydration.

Head to the vet! Good luck! Hope he gets well soon!

Just wanted to give an update since I didn';t havve a chance to get on here. Our friend came over last night, who is a vet, and checked him out. She thinks that he was bit by something, since his front paw is not a bit swallen, and he is very dehydrated. She gave him dog version of benagrel, gave us a surrenge to give him more water since he's not drinking on his own, and also this powder stuff that has electrolights in it... She said to see how he was this morning...if no signs of improvement, then to bring to the emergency room - sure enough, his skin is ALOT less droppy, his redness is almost ALL gone. The front paw is only very slightly swallen. And he also had hives all over from the bite, and now they are almost mostly gone as well. His ears are perked back up to how the normally were..... and I'm soo happy he's getting more like normal. He's looking better and better by the minute... but even tho he looks better and all, I am going to bring him to the vet on Monday (we have an appt) just to make sure 100%.

I am glad to hear he's better! My female dog got bit by mosquitos last night and her belly looked like this today. I took her to the vet, they gave her benadryl and cortisone, and her belly looks better already.

I just saw this! Poor puppy :( So glad to read that he is doing better! Keep us updated.
