at what age?
my little boy is growing up so fast...
at what age did you..
let them get a skateboard?
ride his bike in the street?
go into bathrooms alone?
go into stores alone?
Yesterday I let him go in the pizza store alone ( I was parked right in front and I could see him the whole time through the glass front). He was so excited, and of course first thing he says is "now I can go in store restrooms by myself". Yeah, dont think so kid!

Skateboard last year for his 6th birthday.
still don't let him ride his bike in the street.
Still don't let him go to the bathroom or stores alone.
He will be 7 next month.

Skateboard - 5yo - he took lessons at the skateboard park
ride his bike in the street - with DH, about 5
Go to the bathroom alone - a one stall bathroom, where I watch him come in & out, 5. A men's room with more than one stall, nope not there yet.
Stores alone - something similar where he's running in with money in hand where I watch him - 7-8. At the beach, he can go up with his friend to the concession stand alone (we can't see the stand) - but she's 10 & it's a small strip of beach.

4 years old - or thereabouts.

We moved into this home when Robbie was 5 and Noah was 3 - they were allowed to ride their bikes in front of our home then and there. BUT only with supervision. I would have allowed it sooner if we'd lived here sooner. They are now 9 and 7 - but are still only allowed to ride with supervision. We do not take them on major roads - but have taken them to parks to ride the bike trails.

At home? Since they were potty trained. In Public? If Rob wasn't with us I took them in the ladies room until they were about 5 - now I usually let them go into the men's room - but they go together and I wait outside the door.
go into stores alone?
They still don't do this. I don't know when I will allow it. I don't really see anything wrong with the scenario you describe with the pizzeria for either of my kids though!

Same answers except that mine will be 7 in November. 
Oh and my 5 year old got a skateboard too, because he has to have everything his brother has.
