Has anyone done Invisalign?

I just started today... I'm ready to swear off eating for the next 7-12 months because I can't get the Invisalign trays off! HELP!! I have a few of the "buttons" on a few teeth and I am not sure if they are making it harder or not to remove them. Putting them in is a snap.

Any removal tips? I'm dreading having to do it while I am out or at work! Chat Icon I am a drooling freak while I wrestle them out.

I did it like 7 years ago - it will get easier as the days go by with your new trays. Your teeth will start to adjust and by the end of the 2 week period with that tray, it will be much easier to get them off. Then start all over with a new tray Chat Icon My mom is just finishing up after a year with invisalign, she reminded of me of what a pain the whole process was. I feel your painChat Icon But then end result is worth it! Just keep wearing your retainers every night for the rest of your life.

Thanks!

So I get up this morning, and go to remove the trays to eat and my bridge came out with the trays Chat Icon Chat Icon This is just going to be a nightmare! Now I am waiting to call the dentist to get the bridge put back in and see what will happen from here.

And can you tell me what you mean by retainers? are they like another set of trays you just wear at night when your done?

retainers can be 1 of 2 ways, depending on which your dentists chooses. (Not trying to sound like a know it all...I work in the dental field though so thought Id explain for you)Chat Icon

a metal piece with a pink plastic part that goes over your palette. Removable. You wear it every night when you go to sleep.

Or a bondable retainer...metal bar (very very thin) bonded on the backs of your teeth.

Both are to keep your teeth fron drifitng after your treatment is done. All teeth shift. I had braces TWICE as an older teen and early 20s...I am 32 now and have a few teeth that are out of line because I didnt wear my retainers.

Dont go through this whole thing and not wear your retainers as your dentist tells you to and have them shift!

ETA there *may* be a tray that resembles your invisalign trays that they use as a retainer instead of the 2 I explained above. Im not 100% on that as my office doesnt do invisalgn. HTH

Oh no :( That is awful.

The invisalign retainers are basically just the last tray of your treatment, but they make them thicker for some reason. Yes, you just wear them at night when you are done.

Thank you both!!

I am a HUGE gagger, so any retainer that might go on my palate is a big no-no for me! I hope they are just like the invisalign trays...

The bridge is cemented back in and I waited 24 hours before using my invisalign trays again... I'm taking them out to eat in a bit, let's hope the bridge stays put or I will go nuts!

Re: Has anyone done Invisalign?

I'm almost done with mine after a year of them.

It gets easier - the first trays were the hardest.

I know asking about money is not always kosher, but if someone is willing to share how much does invisalign cost?

Thank you! I needed to hear that! I go Monday morning for my second set of trays... Here's hoping they are easier! Although I have the worst crooked teeth, it's no wonder I'm having a hard time!

BTW, having had my first trays 2 weeks now, I will say getting them off is easier, but still a struggle!

Like I just mentioned in the earlier post, I have severely crooked and crowded teeth, especially on the bottom front 4. My two front teeth are like buck teeth, they are in front of the two teeth that are on either side. And some teeth are turned at 45-degree angles sideways, so I have some turning to do! Told you I was a mess! But anyway, I am paying $5800 - interest free payment plan over 2 years. It depends on the level of work you need done. They say average is between $3K and $5K. Any other questions, let me know!

ETA: I do not have dental insurance. Some plans, if you have orthodontia in your plan, may cover some expense.
