Wisdom teeth question
I still have all 4 of my wisdom teeth. 3 of them have started to come up from the gums, 1 has not. They have never bothered me though, no pain or anything.
Today I woke up with what I thought was jaw pain. Its only on one side of my face and its shooting up to my temple and causing a headache almost behind my eye socket. I cant open my mouth all the way without it hurting. I took advil but nothing is working. The more I'm trying to figure out what it is, the more I'm realizing it sort of hurts way back on the bottom where my wisdom tooth is. I dont know if it originated there or if its just starting to hurt there because everything on that side of my face is hurting.
My question is, for those of you who had wisdom teeth removed because they became painful, what did the pain feel like? Was it noticeably in the tooth area, or did it feel like your jaw hurt? I'm thinking it might be time to see the dentist...

Re: Wisdom teeth question
I once had an infection where the wisdom tooth broke through, and it sounds like what you are describing. Maybe give it another day and if it doesnt clear, see a dentist. In the meantime gargle w/ warm salt water (kills bacteria).

Yea I just looked it up and the symptoms are exactly what I'm feeling. I just made an appointment with my dentist for this afternoon, but out of curiosity, when you had the infection how soon did they schedule to have your wisdom teeth removed?

Re: Wisdom teeth question
We always told patients to leave the wisdom teeth alone until they hurt, bother, cause headaches or sleepless night...sounds like it is time for them to come out.

Saw the oral surgeon and looks like they need to come out. I have an appointment for extractions on Saturday. Ughhh I hate surgery

Re: Wisdom teeth question
I didn't have mine out until they started to bother me. I had the uppers removed and swore the bottom ones could stay in there until they rot. Well about 3 years later they started to bother me. Both experiences where horrible. I had dry sockets in both of the bottom ones. I hope you don't have any pain but be prepared in case you do. I was sick for over a week with the bottom ones.
ETA: I was out both times.
