wisdom teeth question
I have all my wisdom teeth and have had them for about 10 years with no problems. Now, they are starting to get cavities so my dentist said I should get them removed. Has anyone had all four, NOT impacted, removed at the same time? If yes, what is the recovery time? I want to get them removed on a friday, but every sunday for over a month, we have either a wedding or a shower or something. Will I be ok 2 days later? Even if I can't completely eat, will I be ok to go to the functions? I would really apreciate the info. Thanks.

Re: wisdom teeth question
I only had one removed- top, non impacted. It was a breeze. The tops are much easier than the bottoms as a general rule. I went to work the next day, had no swelling, didn't take any pain killers other than advil and just had to be a little bit careful with eating to avoid dry socket, etc.
I don't know if I'd do all 4 at the same time- I mean, you want to have one side to eat on. I'd probably do the left side and then the right side at another time.

Re: wisdom teeth question
I had the 2 on the left side removed, not impacted. i had it done over a vacation and i was glad i did, b/c i needed a few days to recover. i slept a lot of the first day b/c of the drugs, didn't need the painkillers though. i couldn't eat much or brush my teeth for at least 2 days, so that wasn't fun either!

Re: wisdom teeth question
I had two removed at the same time that were not impacted. It was painless and easy.

Re: wisdom teeth question
I think it really depends on the person. I have only had one wisdom tooth removed, but it was impacted and I had a bad recovery and I usually tolerate pain well. I know other people, however, who had an impacted wisdom tooth removed and they were fine the next day.

Re: wisdom teeth question
I had all 4 removed at the same time. They were not impacted. The recovery was not bad. I had a reaction to the pain meds so that made everything worse for me. Could you get it done on a Thursday afternoon? The extra day would help.

Re: wisdom teeth question
I had all 4 out non-impacted, and was fine the next day. But I am a quick recoverer for this kinda of things!
Do you have shower or wedding you **could** ski[ if you **HAD** to? I would do it on that weekend.

Re: wisdom teeth question
I've only had my top ones removed on seperate occasions and I was totally fine.. didn't need pain meds or anything and I was fine that day. And they weren't impacted.

Re: wisdom teeth question
I had 4 non-impacted removed all at the same time. By the next day it still hurt a little, but I was down to only Advil for the pain. No swelling. It took several days before I was able to eat normally again (soft/non-chewable foods only), but I was totally up for going places and doing things. I think you'd be fine to go to a wedding or shower 2 days later. Is there any way you can get them taken out on a Thursday instead of Friday, just in case it hits you harder than expected?

Re: wisdom teeth question
Thank you all so much for replying. I feel a lot better about getting them all taken out at once. I am going Friday afternoon and I will let you all know how it goes. Oh, were you all knocked out or did you just use novacain?
