Got our diagnosis today...
We are now an Autism family.
We've seen this coming but it's still a tough blow and so hard to hear. We left the office with so much information but I still have no idea what to do next.. They set us up right away with the ABA therapist so that's going to be added to our new full time schedule now.
It's overwhelming and almost relieving now that we know. I know we have such a long road ahead but I'm grateful to have found such a supportive network of moms here on this board. Thank you so much for your encouraging words and for sharing your positive stories. They are keeping the light on for me right now.

Take things in small doses as much as you can. Make sure you highlight your son's strengths and enjoy every minute of him.
A diagnosis doesn't define a child, it's just the route to get them help !

I'm so proud of you, Laura. You went with your gut and you've championed for Zach every step of the way. He's lucky to have you!
I have taught many children with autism. He will THRIVE, just wait.

I work as a Paraeducator with a Kindergarten child who has Autism and I will say that the ABA has been wonderful in helping me help him at school. It took MONTHS to figure out how to get my little guy on a schedule and we finally have him where his good days are more frequent then bad. The ABA was GREAT with us. Wish we had teamed with them earlier then we did! Together with the ABA, we have found lots of techniques and ideas that work and have been able to implement them into other childrens schedules and we have seen ALOT of positive improvments. If you ever have questions or would like some outiside opinions, feel free to message me!
