OK...another WW questions for the newbie.
So, I joined WW on Friday (2/04).
I got the tracker, the pocket counter book thing, I also bought the measuring spoons and the Complete Foods Book.
I joined the "pay as you go" program.
Now, technically, I only pay the $13 every time I go to a meeting, correct?
What if I don't go to the meetings? What if I do it on my own? I have MAJOR motivation and don't realy technically need the support at the meetings. My DH and I are doing it together, along with some friends.
So, do I "cancel" the membership, or just not attend the meetings? How does it work?
(I might join the online WW instead).

Re: OK...another WW questions for the newbie.
I haven't joined yet but I want to start the program so i've made a few phone calls for info
What I was told is that with the "pay as you go plan" you have to pay for missed meetings the next time you go... so if you don't go this week, but you go next week, you will still have to pay for both weeks.... when you miss 3 meetings in a row, your membership is automatically cancelled and if you return you will have to re-register and pay the registration fee....
I was also told that the only way to know what your daily/weekly points allowance is is to go to the meeting where they will calculate it for you... so if you don't go to meetings, you won't know how many points you're allowed to eat... is that true?
what's a tracker? how much did the complete food guide cost?
thanks.

Re: OK...another WW questions for the newbie.
If you are going to register, do it soon because they are running a free registration special right now!!
I thought that's how it worked...with missing the meetings. I'm honestly thinking of just doing it on my own at home. I have a scale...and I'm motivated!
When I joined, they weighed me and told me my points. They assigned me 29 points which is the lowest amount they can give. I figure I have to keep it there...there's nowhere to go from there until I get to my "goal" weight at which time maybe they'll increase it a little. But I won't be there for a loooooooooooooong time...so I'll worry about it then.
The tracker is basically a little notebook where you write what you ate for the day. Nothing really crucial. You can use a small notebook for the same purpose.
The Complete Foods book (which you almost HAVE to get because it really has EVERY food in there...and it's easy to use) and the spoons (3 HUGE stainless steel serving spoons...I needed it to measure pasta portions...my BIGGEST problem area) both came to $28. I'm not sure how much they were separately. But I think the book was about $7.

Re: OK...another WW questions for the newbie.
I know, I really want to join during this free registration period, BUT the only thing holding me back is that we're saving to buy a house right now so $50 a month is too much for me at the moment. I did the old plan at home on my own without ever going to the meetings and I lost 30 pounds, but back then there was a chart that told you how many total points you were allowed as you went down in weight. Now, they apparently use some secret formula to calculate it for you so I can't do it on my own anymore because I won't know how many points I should be eating as I lose weight.

Re: OK...another WW questions for the newbie.
Ask around on the board and see what most people have. I know it's not EXACT, but it's better than nothing.
I do know that 29 is the lowest amount of points you can get. I have NO idea how they picked that for me. I do know I'd like to lose about 60+ lbs, if that helps you figure out pts for you.
I went with my friend to sign up. She's about 5 inches taller than me and maybe 30 lbs more than me, and they gave her 30 pts. I'd say most people are around the 29 pt range.
Maybe do like what I did. Sign up ($13). Get all your supplies. Stay for the first meeting, then don't go back and just do it on your own at home!!

Re: OK...another WW questions for the newbie.
They sell a points plus calculator. You can calculate you points plus daily target right from there. It will ask you to input your weight height age sex? Not sure if there is anything else. Then you can use the points calculator to figure out what different foods count for with points plus. I have one for myself and reset it just so I could see what my husband would gets for points plus. HTH
