Cough that lasts for MONTHS?
Has anyone had this? I have literally had a cough on and off since December. No other symptoms. I haven't went to the doctor. Has anyone had this? Were dr.s able to do anything for you?

my friend's mother has this. been to docs, they dont know what's causing it but she works in a nyc school and they are suspecting contaminants in the environment!!!
They are having her do a breathing test before she goes to work and after

I was also going to suggest something environmental, an allergy or maybe asthma.

A chronic cough could be a symptom of different things...Asthma, COPD, or even acid reflux...It sounds like you should make an appointment to see a doctor.

I have severe acid reflux so I thought it was that. But my son started with a cough recently as well. Sounded like mine so I'm not sure. He is going to the dr. tomorrow.

For me - i had that too and it was EVENTUALLY diagnosed as Asthma.

I had a cough from - I kid you not - March of last year through December. I went to a few different doctors, took several antibiotics with no results. Bronchitis, asthma, COPD, acid reflux - everything was ruled out. I actually started taking Mucinex on my own and within a week, my cough was completely gone. I spoke to my doc about this and he said it was more than likely caused by a persistent undetectable post-nasal drip. Try the Mucinex, what do you have to lose?

Only a doc can tell for sure, but for some people post nasal drip is a cause, so is reflux. And reflux can cause post nasal drip.
I don't know if you can take mucinex while pregnant, but I do know that a lot of docs recommend the neti pot because there are no drugs in it and its safe for mom and baby.
I used to live on sudafed since it was so bad. The neti pot was a little bit hard to get used to, but it did help a lot.

You're pregnant! That's probably it. You have tons more mucus and phlegm in your body now. It's probably a post-nasal drip causing you to cough.
One of my best friends had a cough for YEARS that would wake her up from sleep. She saw specialists and no one could tell her what was wrong. Then started using a Neti pot for her nose - her cough went away in a couple of days. All those years of suffering, and it was a post-nasal drip causing it! Bet it's the same for you.

Most often a post nasal drip. I get this after a cold. Could last me for months after!! A tickly annoying cough. Still have it now after a cold over 1 mth ago but I feel fine other than the cough.

I had a cough for 2 months and it was from my sinuses. The dripping was causing me to cough so much.

My mom has a cough that she gets every year and it lasts for quite a few months- she says its allergies. It's usually during the winter.
