Pasta dish
Any ideas for a pasta dish i can make for company saturday? It is for family coming over after DS' kiddie b-day party. So I have to be able to make it the day before. I am trying to stay away from ziti or lasagna....seems like i always do that.
Any other ideas?

Re: Pasta dish
My go-to pasta dish that is always a hit:
Pasta
Tons of garlic sauteed in olive oil (very slowly until the garlic is mushy, do not let it brown- it'll get bitter)
Broccoli (sometimes I'll also add asparagus, baby spinach, or artichoke hearts)
Lots of grated locatelli romano (or your favorite grated cheese) This dish tastes good hot, cold or room temp. Simple and delicious!

Re: Pasta dish
I like to make Florentine and you can add shrimp (cook day of) or chicken (grill in advance.
Defrost spinach in microwave - wring out any extra liquid. Boil pasta (I like to use campanelle)
Sautee chopped onion and garlic in pan with oil. Add spinach, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper. Add in jarred sauce (any marinara, I like prego as a base or newmans own). Season with some extra italian seasoning or basil.
Top with grilled chicken (I grill on a grill pan or foreman while spinach is cooking) - you can lightly season the meat with Salt, Pepper, and Garlic powder.
Or you can just store the spinach/pasta and when you reheat it the day of the party, add in shrimp which will boil in hot sauce in only 1 - 2 mins.
Top with parm cheese.

My sister does the same, but she also adds sliced black olives to it and uses tri-color rotini.

How about homemade from Uncle Giuseppe's? The stuffed Rigatoni there is always a hit! I like it because I don't have to boil the pasta. Just layer in a pan with cooked sauce and stick it oven. I top with Mozzarella & PArm cheese.
