fabric stapler question / advice update with picture

I need to use it one time, should i bother buying one or use a regular one?

i have to staple my cushion on my couch back together as the seam split. the fabric is so thick i can't get a needle through it.

advice?

Re: fabric stapler question / advice

You can't use a regular stapler.. you need a fabric one..

have you tried using a tack that you can hammer into it? how big is the area you need to staple down?

Re: fabric stapler question / advice

I have used a normal staple gun to reupholster an ottoman before and it worked just fine. If that is what you mean about using a normal one, I wasnt even aware they made special fabric ones. If you will not see the staples then I would say the regular one is fine.

ETA: I should stress that I mean a normal Staple "gun" not a normal office Stapler- that would not work.

This is my loveseat. it has four attached cushions to the back of the couch. the top of one was split by my dog and then of course i lost some peices of the fabric. my goal is to just close up the hole somehow and then use a slip cover. i don't care for the color of the couch anymore anyway.

someone told me just slap on some fabric glue... what do you think of that idea?

Re: fabric stapler question / advice

the tension of someone sitting will split the fabric.. do you have a picture of it? I can most certaiinly help you but I need to see what exactly it is that you need done.

I've reupholstered chairs/barstools/storage pieces and made window treatments, etc.. so I'm pretty handy in that dept.Chat Icon

Re: fabric stapler question / advice update with picture

it'll rip back open if you don't.. just by the tension of people sitting on it..

you can do it by hand and it's VERY easy to do.. especially because you're looking to close it up and not have it look perfect and have the seam hidden like the others, kwim?
