Basement Finishing Question/Advice
We have a basement that is completely unfinished. It's basically a concrete cellar. And, the ceiling are low (6 feet, and DH is 6 foot tall) in one part of the basement and about 6'4" in the other half (still low I know, but better than 6 foot). Do you think it is worth it to finish the basement and have low ceilings? Our other option would be to have an engineer come and see if the foundation could be "dropped" to the other height but I am assuming that would be very expensive. I would love to have a finished basement!
Any advice is appreciated - TIA!

Re: Basement Finishing Question/Advice
This is a tough call. Messing with the foundation (if possible) is definitely not a good think and you're right probably very expensive. The house could probably be raised but not sure if the foundation can be modified. Either way you’re talking about major work and expense. How long do you plan to live in the house? If it were me, I'd consider fixing up the basement without spending too much money just so it's usable, selling and moving to a house with the basement you want if having a basement is important to you.
