Anyone have their gallbladder removed?
And do you find that you have stomach issues ever since?
I swear I am constantly running to the bathroom, everything gives me stomach cramps and the runs-  -even non greasy foods like yogurt, eggs, etc
It's not every day, but I go through stages where I am nervous to even eat before going out because I am scared that I will be running around looking for a bathroom. I have gotten to the point where every now and then I'll just pop an Immodium to stop myself up for a while. It's maddening
I have done some research online and it seems that once your gallbladder is gone, the bile that used to be stored in it is just dumped directly into your intestines and that can have a laxative effect- thus the runs.
Just wondering if anyone else has this after gallbladder removal and if so, if there is anything that helps.
Something like a probiotic (Algin seemed to help but it got SO pricey to take every day) or even a prescription from a dr?
It's just a bad way to live!

Thank you! At least I feel there is some hope.
I am hoping that as my body adjusts it will get better- because this is the pits!

I had mine remomved almost 10 yrs ago. I had terrible stomach attacks once it was removed for years. I went to several Gastroenterologist and the all just say IBS...which is from having the gallbladder removed.
It has gotten 100X better the past few years but I will have an occasional stomach attack.

Dh did and still 3 years later, can be a problem if he eats alot in one sitting.

I had my gallbladder removed about 6 years ago. I still have stomach issues, although it is much better than it was at first. It really helps when I watch what I eat. Hope it gets better for you soon!

I had mine removed 3 months ago and ice cream still makes me sick. It has gotten way better then I was right after surgery though.

This is me. Some days are really bad others OK. I'm scared to eat out anymore...it suckkss.
I had my gallbladder removed almost a year ago to the day.

Glad to see I am not alone at least and this seems like a pretty common side effect.
And to be honest- it's still better than those awful horrendously painful attacks I was getting before I had it removed.
That was a pain like no other- even labor!
I just bought some Align with a coupon-it's super expensive but if it helps, it might be worth it.
