am I asking for trouble? drum set?
DS loves to play the drums on rock band and he is very good (better than his older brother).
At Disney, we bought him drum sticks that light up and he has a great beat without any music cues.
For his bday, we're thinking about a small drum set. I'm a little nervous of the noise. Also, should we start lessons? I believe that he has 5 years before school lessons start.
The pianist in me thinks he should start with piano, but I don't know if he has the same passion for that.

DD was 2 when I got her a real drum set, she loves it and at 4 still plays on it. I have then in the basement so it isnt too bad when she "plays"

Re: am I asking for trouble? drum set?
I've read that it depends on the child's temperament to sit and practice, and to be able to reach all parts of the drum set. My Daughter bought a drum set for Grandson, when he was maybe between 6-8 yrs. He soon was bored. He did not take lessons. Now that he's almost 15, he's been taking electric guitar lessons for three yrs. I think, and doesn't seem to be tired of it yet. Mary
