SHIN SPLINTS
I felt it yesterday on my right leg. I have my 1st 10K tomorrow a.m. This a.m. it felt a little better. Do you think I'll be okay tomorrow? Anything I should do tonight for it?
TY!

Re: SHIN SPLINTS
I would stretch it and just relax. Maybe take an aleve. If it still hurts tomorrow just play it by ear- if you have to walk some of it then go for it.
Good luck tomorrow!

Re: SHIN SPLINTS
I've been dealing with a reoccurring pain in my shin. I had it x-ray'd a few years ago and that didn't show anything, but I don't think its splints. Anyway, my doctor told me to freeze a paper cup with water and then roll that up and down on the area that hurts. I actually end up using an ice cold beer bottle lol. But I feel it helps a bit. Good luck tomorrow!

Re: SHIN SPLINTS
I would say get fitted for new shoes, but there's not time.
Some ibuprofen will help during the race, but just be careful b/c it can raise your heartrate. If it gets bad during the race, you can find a soft surface (grass) to run on, that will help a bit
Good Luck!

The Mini in Central Park? Great race!
Hope you are feeling better. I too have read about the frozen cups as a remedy. Just don't overdo it if they bother you. When you're done, as Erica suggested, perhaps go to a running store to check your sneakers. At least rule out the possibility that you're in the wrong shoes.
