The "jibberish" talking
Does your DC do this? DS is still non verbal basically (he has a couple of words), but he'll talk to himself all day if I let him in that sing-songy jibberish talk. Just wondering what you do to stop that or if I should just let him? He's always done it...

Re: The "jibberish" talking
DS has done it as recently as last Spring/Summer, and he had more words than I could count at that point. Not sure why, but he always did it when he was feeling playful.
He still does it, but now the jibberish words tend to rhyme with real words, so he'll say the real word and then come up with other made up words that rhyme. He's almost 4.

DD spoke in jibberish until she was 4. It's a precursor to language so let him do it!

me too! DS is younger, 23 months but we were told to encourage all sounds, babbling, jibbish etc. If its a sing-song thing we should mimic it to show "conversation" and "imitation" and if it sounds like a word or is being made in context with an action, ie. EEEEE while eating, we should say the correct way. So when DS does EEEE during meal time, I say "yes, we are EEEEEating. I stresss the EEE as he did but I complete the word to demonstrate for him.
