Has anyone ever had to deal with a schizophrenic issue? Please help

My mother I believe has been battling some form of Schizophrenia for the past five years. It's starting to come out more now, especially when she is stressed out. I believe she has broken up her marriage because of it, she is terrible with money and now has nothing left, there are four of us siblings that are trying to figure out what we can do for her. She does not have health insurance, and she refuses to work ( This is where her schizophrenia happens ) Paranoia. Does anyone know if social services can do anything and if so...what can they do? She has no money, she is about to be evicted from her apartment. We are all supporting her, at the same time....we are trying to just get by ourselves. Any advice? Please?

Get the phone number of the Mental Health Association for either Nassau County or Suffolk County, which ever is the county you live in. Call them up and ask where and when is their next meeting of "family and friends of the mentally ill." Go to a meeting and you will get all the info you need.
Also you can call the National Association of the Mentally Ill, NAMI, and go to their meetings where there will be others to help you with info.
